Hey, I'm Julien, a 22yo french guy! I left France in the beginning of 2015 to go to Australia and learn ceramics craft in Sydney. I was planning to come back after my training, but I caught the bug and fell in love with traveling! Now all I want to do is backpacking all over the world, and my goal is to hitchhike in every country I'll go. I feel at home on the road, although a crowded dorm in a hostel is fine as well hahaha. It's hard for me to stick to any kind of plan, I prefer to welcome the unexpected and let what will happen, happen.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I used to think traveling was about exploring, going to crazy places and see the thing nobody saw before. But hitchhiking, being on the road with different persons, living in other people's places or hostels made me realize that it's more about the people and the lives you meet on the road than where you are really going. Moving and connecting with people is what life is about. And staying away from being too serious =) CS is essentially about that I guess. I tried it for the first time in China, and now I just wanna meet more people and colorful lives!

Interests

I'm into drawing, crafts, cooking, learning new languages and cinema. I'm actually crazy for cinema, I used to go three to four times a week in France. And it's probably a good idea not to talk cinema with me, unless you like to be caught in some endless conversation. It can be pretty hard to keep going to the movies whilst traveling but I still manage to go whenever and wherever I can haha. I like meeting new people and having long conversations while sharing a beer with them, learn about their story, their dreams... And of course, I love to travel, see new places, and don't know where I'm gonna end my day =)

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourites movies are... Well there are too many of them. Although I really love middle-east cinema, and chinese and korean movies. I love my books, I'm even traveling with my favourite ones, which is pretty unconvenient because it's wheighing so much, but I can't leave them. "The little prince" of A. de St Exupéry would probably be my favourite of all time, I'm currently carrying a Japanese version with me.
I'm listening to a lot of different music, although right now I'm more into soul, old school US rap and West Africa music

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to China to meet one of my friend, and we hitchhiked all over the Chinese countryside, which was probably one of the best time of my life. I met wonderful people during this trip, and it confirmed me that the more you share the better the life is =D

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you french, but also if you want to learn about drawing I can teach you basic stuff to begin, even if I think the best way to learn it is to train by yourself. Also I can teach you delicious italian recipe, or some few from other country, I would be very happy to share my cooking knowledge !
