About Me

At the moment, I am teaching in francophone university program in Hungary. I'm also working on doing research on the protection of personal data, for a French university located in a small town called Compiègne, not very far from Paris.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy travelling, and meeting new people, so couchsurfing sounds like the logical thing to do…

Interests

I like computers, and technology, and free software, and that kind of stuff. I like tinkering with old computers, and although now I don't have time any more, participate in some projects.
But I also like philosophy and all the other human / social sciences, which I actually studied and am now (attempting to) teach. The two can actually be combined, and I was lucky enough to be able to convince a university that this is actually true, so now they're paying me to work on this combination :D

Besides that, I also like politics, and following politics, and current events. Or, rather, I usually don't like the current events, but I like feeling like I can do something about it. Hence the politics.

Talking about the above with new people from different places is usually pretty fun !
Learning new languages is also fun, although I don't have the time to really learn any. I tried Spanish, and even Chinese and Breton at some point, but I am unable to say more than a couple of words in them.
Besides that, travelling, music (including some good ol' Heavy Metal), movies, books (including heroic fantasy) … pretty much fill up my time.

Music, Movies, and Books

Although I am not too fond of black and death metal (usually), I do enjoy most heavy metal bands (Helloween, Tankcsapda…), and some punk bands too (like Béruriers Noirs or Ramoneurs de Menhirs). Ska is also a lot of fun (I am especially fond of Goulamas'k). But I don't have anything against quieter stuff (like good old Brassens), humoristic bands (Fatals Picards), reggae (Aznavour, Bob Marley), or some old kitsch pop bands like Boney M. And classical stuff. Like Bach. His music is amazing.
As for movies… I liked the Star Trek reboot a lot, but hated the last Superman. Which is pretty much irrelevant, because mostly my favorite movies are movies like the Leopard and Goodbye Lenin, or comedies, like Dogma and the Visitors.
And I feel too lazy to write more and mention books I like.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Great Wall. Niagara Falls. Quebec during in 2012 was an exciting place. Polish parties. Bangor, and Portland, Maine and Chattanooga, Tennessee. Zigong, in China. Naples and its suburbs. Bergamo. Well, Italy, in general, is just amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not too sure what to write here. I'm more or less up to learning anything, especially about things I never thought I'd learn or hear about. I like talking with people and discussing various topics, like those described in this profile or anything else.
