About Me

Hi CS community! I am Julien, born and grown in the South of France, with a short episode living in Dominican Republic when I was a child, and currently discovering how is living in Australia.
I started to use Couchsurfing some years ago during my first travel in South America, and I have been using this network from this date to meet other travelers or local people when life let me free time to do it (it's very easy to get busy nowadays!). I can enjoy a resourcing walk in the nature such as I can enjoy the rhythm of a never sleeping city, even if my natural temperament is relaxed in general. But my heart beat definitely for the mountain, I just feel in the best place on Earth when I go to hike. I love new experiences and going out of my comfort zone, such as trying different jobs, having a long break from time to time to travel, or dedicating my energy to learn something new. I am interested in everything related with Sciences and History, and also try to increase my sensibility to Spirituality in my everyday life. I love all food, to exchange with people with a different background than mine, to try to understand other points of view, I love animals, hitchhiking, free camping, rock climbing, tolerance, jokes, coffee, chocolate, and a good beer or wine from time to time!
As English is not my native language, you could possibly find some language mistakes in my description, sorry for that! Otherwise I also speak well Spanish, and I can survive a Portuguese conversation... and French, bien sûr !

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing mainly... to couchsurf! I believe entering in someone else home or receiving someone in your own home is the best way to create a genuine human experience with your host or your guest, because home is more than a place where you sleep and eat, it's the place where you are the most genuine version of yourself. I just want to share simple moments of life, such as cook, talk, laugh, rest, make plans for the day, or not! I am super easy-going and flexible, sometimes I just slept directly on the ground on a towel because my host didn't have a couch, but I was purely enjoying because I was in amazing company! I am also happy to meet people outside, the most important is to meet and to share time with other human beings.
I would also love to host more in my own home, and I plan to do it when I will have a good place for that. But I have been moving a lot these last years and it has been difficult to make it real. For example, I am now living in my car/van in Australia, and I have not enough space to host in good conditions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was on a sailing boat with friends, we was anchored close to a beautiful beach. Suddenly, I saw geysers on the surface of the ocean, 500m away, and I recognised the breathe of whales. I started to swim in their direction, and when I get to them, I saw two huge adults humpback whales, and a baby twirling in the water above them, like if he was dancing. The three of them came back to the surface to breathe, and I had to swim back quickly to not end up on the back of one of the adults! They was so close, I was almost able to touch them... It was the most beautiful spectacle I have seen these last years...

Teach, Learn, Share

We have something to learn from every interaction with other human beings, and everyone can teach something just by being himself. Otherwise, I am very interested in languages learning, and I can teach French, Spanish, or even English stuffs. I also like when other people correct me when they notice mistakes in my speaking, it's the best way to improve it. I also enjoy to cook, mainly French cuisine, and I think I can teach some stuffs on this side! I can also teach how to do some knots for sailing, some tips about traveling alone or hitchhiking, and maybe some useless but funny stuffs
