About Me

Currently travelling full time with my partner, and making many new friends along the way! We enjoy learning about the places we visit from a locals perspective, forming meaningful friendships and having authentic experiences. Our main passions are nature, sustainability, photography and seeking out a good beer or coffee!

I've been told I'm a good cook! I love trying out new recipes and sharing old ones too. I am very polite, tidy, respectful and open minded :)

I'm not a smoker and not a huge party animal although happy to go out for a few drinks from time to time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to travel authentically. Really getting to know a place and the people in it. I am new to the couchsurfing community but very excited to see where it takes me. Currently I am not in a living arrangement that allows me to host other surfers though when we return home and settle in again I will be able to reconsider this possibility.

Interests

I am passionate about the natural environment, particularly nature conservation and sustainable living.
In India my partner and I worked at a safari resort in the Little Rann of Kutch as English speaking guides for guests and in Thailand we spent time as nature educators for school groups teaching them about human elephant conflict. So we pursue these interests quite readily even whilst travelling.

We have an active lifestyle and love to get outside hiking, exploring nature or if we find ourselves in the right place at the right time a surf would be great!

However we are also very chill people and love to balance these experiences with more relaxed memories perhaps cooking a meal for friends, sharing a bottle of wine or just having a chat over coffee (I love a good coffee!).

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not a huge movie buff but I generally like anything with Paul Rudd in it and of course the Disney classics.

Books are more my thing, I read both fiction and non fiction.

Most recently in fiction I finally got around to reading The Secret Life of Bees (I loved it!) and Where'd You Go, Bernadette, now reading Beartown by Fredrik Backman.
In non-fiction I recently finished Stiff - The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers, now reading The Radium Girls by Kate Moore.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed Mt Kinabalu in Borneo, Malaysia at 16 years old, more recently I completed the trek to and from Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal.

As I mentioned above we were safari guides in India for some time, living in the small village and doing that was pretty amazing and unlike anything I've ever done.

Perhaps I'll have an amazing couchsurfing experience to add to this section soon too?!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm happy to teach you a few fun cocktail recipes, recently working in a bar in Malaysia I've mastered the Espresso Martini and introduced a new cocktail all the way from my home in Aus - the Summer Shandy!

I'd love to learn some of the inside secrets, small local places to eat etc of the place where you live. Also learning and practicing the language is always welcome!

I'd love to share a meal together, I'm happy to cook or even we could make something together! I find cooking very relaxing and a nice way to show appreciation to others. If that's not your style perhaps we could go on a nice hike together or have some fun in the surf.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm more than happy to share some recipes, travel tips for any of the places I've been or my partner is a widllife photographer, perhaps if you have an interest in photography he could share some of his kowledge with you - or vice versa :)

I love craft too, perhaps I could make something special for you when I get home and send it back to you as a special personalised thank you gift :)
