ABOUT ME

I'm a 30-something, respectful, independent, friendly,, conservative Christian. I can get along with just about anyone. Most of my free time is spent out dancing (swing dancing: lindy hop, charleston and balboa).

I live and work just outside Washington, D.C. and love taking in the city. The swing dance scene is great, but we also have museums, clubs, history and plenty of other things to do.

I grew up in a very small town and didn't travel much growing up. I am only starting to make up for lost time.

PHILOSOPHY

I am a Christian. My life is lived for Christ, since he died to save my soul. My decisions are made to honor him.

Basically it means I treat people kindly and with respect.

I also love to laugh. Laughter is medicine for the soul.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I think a network of people sharing couches is pretty genius. I love meeting new people and learning about them. I love hosting, but cannot right now. I already host so many lindy hoppers that I can't trespass on my roommates much more. Work would likely prohibit me from playing tour guide during the week - but I can certain provide directions and helpful advice about the area. But if I am off work and you would like me to I'll do what I can to help you experience the capital of the U.S.

In 2008 I traveled to England on vacation and had three splendid hosts who really helped me see how great couchsurfing can be.

I'm planning an upcoming trip to Iceland and France and hoping to couchsurf for part of that adventure.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My trip to England was amazing, in large part thanks to couchsurfing. My mom and I stayed with the Grey's, Catell's and Sarah Richson. Each and everyone we stayed with made us feel welcome, gave us an authentic taste of England and became a new friend.

Since my couchsurfing experience in England, I've been blessed to host a couple of awesome people at my place. George stayed with me while he was taking classes and I was very sorry not to get to spend more time getting to know him. Lindsey and I had a grand time while she was here. She came out dancing with me and went to the Weirdo Show and cooked and even helped me celebrate my birthday!

I also frequently host out of town dancers coming to DC for swing events.

I like most kinds of music - except rap and metal. right now I'm really into jazz and swing music.

books: anything by Austen and Agatha Christie.

When it comes to movies I like everything from rom-com to westerns, but I prefer old movies with really talented actors and actresses to most current movies.

I've finally travelled across the ocean and have driven on the left side of the road! I survived Cornish roads. Ate Japanese for the first and second time. Made homemade scones.

I know it can't compare with most people's "amazing" things, but I think they were all pretty cool.

I'm not sure I have much to teach other than swing dancing - which I will gladly share with anyone. I've been dancing for seven years and instructing for a couple.
