ABOUT ME

I grew up in Sydney, have seen much of Australia and have lived in Cairns since 1985. I am a happy but quiet person, with a wealth of life wisdon to pass on to anyone who will listen! :D I am constantly amazed at the variety of people/cultures/stories/opinions etc that exist in this world - and at the number of beautiful places/sights/experiences that are on offer for us all.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been a very busy host in Cairns, but unfortunately at the moment my shift work makes it difficult to host people, but I try to host occasionally. I travelled through Europe in Oct/Nov 2013 and surfed with some of the lovely friends I've made through CS and also stayed with new hosts.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

90 couchsurfers stayed with me in my first year on CS, 92 in my second year ! In early July 2011 I hosted my 200th surfer. Surfed in Australia, Thailand and Europe.

Music - I play mandolin, guitar, and ukulele very well; dulcimer reasonable; violin, tin whistle, harmonica, piano, djembe are all a work in progress! Also arts, painting & drawing, theatre, cinema, yoga, photography, nature, rainforests, hiking and bushwalking, mountains, and on and on and on...

I love almost all music - my collection includes everything from classical to rock, pop to jazz, gypsy folk to African tribal rhythyms, Middle Eastern to South American...

I prefer movies that dont rely on proven commercial formulas - anything that is in some way unique or that challenges my views of the world.

Too many to choose from! Heli-skiing on virgin snow in New Zealand - whoot! Bungy jumping and parachuting. Two whole weeks sailing a 16 metre yacht around the Whitsundays. Seeing a shooting star in the skies of Wien and the constellation of Orion hovering over the Eiffel Tower at midnight.

I can teach you about the rainforests of north Queensland, or show you some chords on the mandolin, guitar or ukulele, or tell you the secret to an awesome pasta carbonara!

I love learning! I want to polish up on my school French; I like to learn new recipes; I would love to be able to play more instruments such as the piano, violin, or cello.
