About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"boire jusqu'à l'ivresse MA jeunesse"

ABOUT ME

Born and raised Montrealer (Quebec, Canada), from Haitian parents, I am often told I look Ethiopian, Somalian or from Djibouti. Once I was in Toronto and took a cab, whom the driver was Ethiopian, and I was told that I should ask my parents to look back at my ancestors because HE was convinced i had Ethiopian blood and that I am NOT Haitian (hehe)!

I'm simple, energetic, open-minded and a great listener. I love to meet new people from different backgrounds, i.e. I lived with 15 interns in a guesthouse for 2 months in India (Summer '09) and we were family in the end. Thanks to the world of Facebook, we still keep in touch!

As a recent BA graduate in Community, Public Affairs and Policy Studies, I am in search of the most enriching career in my field of study. In the meantime, I continue to volunteer within my community, and put to use my knowledge and abilities to others (i.e., I will start my CELTA certification to teach English to Adults).

I love traveling! Ever since i watched Motorcycle Diaries I have a goal to travel all around South America (maybe by bike)! I backpacked alone in Southeast Asia which was a memorable experience! For the next couple years, I will be exploring and/or living in the outmost beautiful places in the world! I'm a huge soccer fan and have yet experienced watching a LIVE WORLD CUP SOCCER GAME!! WHO AM I RULING FOR? BRAZIL! AND WHERE WILL I BE in 2014...BRAZIL:D.

I'm a thrill seeker: I have yet to accomplish my dream to go skydiving (no worries, i think about it everyday!)...Albeit, i did go hang gliding in Rio de Janeiro...that's a start... :P

I love languages. I'm currently at my 5th. I speak French, English, Spanish, Creole, and Italian (beginner). I am interested in semitic languages. I want to learn Arabic (I know few words!) and I have started learning Hebrew (If i open my book again and review the alphabet i'll know how to read but won't understand what i'm reading :P...hence the reason why i'll have to learn it elsewhere than in school)!

I love all types of music as long as it touches my soul and moves me!

The types of movies I like to watch are independent or foreign movies!

My favourite colour is green :D

My love is yoga (hot yoga...i prefer Moksha than Bikram...).

Besides all of the above, I'm laid back and down-to-earth and opened to anything new.
Show me what you got! ;)

PHILOSOPHY

For me, there is no point in planning 5 yrs from where you are today. Tomorrow is a different day and you never know what can happen. Seize the moments, the opportunities. Focus on your priorities. Work on your goals. Live with no regrets. And most importantly, I quote, an Armenian-French artist named Charles Aznavour, "boire jusqu'à l'ivresse sa jeunesse" (if i translate it, LITERALLY, it means: drink your youth until euphoria).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first couchsurfing experience was in Singapore with Chin (also a couchsurfer)!! I had an amazing time with him! He gave me the best tips on where to eat, cuz most of the time u will be eating! and he showed me an amazinf area where Lonely Planet hasn't mentioned: "Arab Street"! Best last night ever! A shisha and a bottle of wine! :D Cheers Chin

Then in BKK with Anatta (also a couchsurfer), Thanks Anatta, your house was lovely; traditional Thai house. I shared it with another couchsurfer Luciana with whom on the 1st day in BKK we lost one another hehe...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was amazed by how cellphones can work in the desert! (I've seen villagers living in the desert in India, get phone calls and make phone calls!)
I live in Canada where telecommunication is at its peak and you can lose connection just by being in your basement...........Go figure!

CARNAVAL IN RIO!

Tubing in Vang Vieng, Laos..One of the craziest days ever...it went a little like this:

Start off with a bucket, hop on a tube, paddle with your arms in the river, a rope is thrown at you, catch it quickly before you miss it, get another bucket with free shots, climb a ladder, and swing yourself in the air then let yourself go in the water, go back on the deck and repeat....THEN WITH many buckets throughout the day, find yourself with strangers as drunk as you who lost their tubes; get in the river with 14 other people holding onto other people's tubes...laugh so hard you forget it's dark and you are in the river, miss your chance to get out of this trap...keep going for another hour and hopefully someone will see you and get you out of the river!

Teach, Learn, Share

Eum, has anyone heard of "poutine"? This is a typical dish from Quebec. It's fries, with chunks of cheese and gravy sauce. It might sound dull but the best thing to eat after a night out drinking.
