About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To figure myself out.
ABOUT ME
I'm a student at Faculty of Social Sciences in Ljubljana.
I think most people would describe me as a calm and somewhat introverted person, which I can't argue with, but I wouldn't say it defines me either. I'm very open-minded, and would still rather have a bad experience than none at all. I like meeting new people, no matter their personal convictions or weird habits (the weirder the better) - and even if I describe myself as "introverted" I think I can even start talking too much after a while (and a couple of beers later ;) ).
PHILOSOPHY
I believe it is important for people to constantly learn, both through theory (what you read) and experience (what you live). I believe that "be yourself" is not exactly the most helpful advice you can give to a person - people should always try to challenge their views, tastes, discuss them with people, whether the subject matter is politics or pop culture. I dread to think what I'd be like today if I stayed the same all those years and never left my comfort zone.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have learned that it's worth relying on kindness of strangers. My travelling is infinitely more interesting this way. So far, I've been hosted by 5 people, really grateful for all of them.
I would also like to help out travellers that come to Slovenia, however right now I unfortunately can't offer a couch. I'm always down for a drink in Ljubljana (or Litija if for whatever vicious reason you want to come to my home town) if you're so inclined.
Interests
Films and music, listening to other people's opinions. Sometimes trying to express my own, including in a written form. Exploring the oddest corners of the internet, which has led me to meet friends I regularly talk to on Skype, some of who I even met during my travel.
Music, Movies, and Books
In high school I'd be obsessing over Pink Floyd and other classic rock, but now there really isn't a music genre that I wouldn't at least give a chance to. I listen to a lot more pop and hip hop than I did before.
Some of my all-time favourites: Animal Collective, Radiohead, My Bloody Valentine, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Grizzly Bear, Björk, Fugazi, Unwound, Idoli, N'toko, Talk Talk, Angel Olsen, Pavement, Broadcast, The Avalanches, etc.
From classical music, I have a soft spot for solo piano pieces, think Debussy, Chopin, Satie, among others.
Favourite film is probably either Amélie or Synecdoche New York, depending on my mood. Otherwise I love works by Coen Brothers, Stanley Kubrick, Asghar Farhadi, Martin Scorsese, Don Hertzfeldt, Roman Polanski among others.
Lately I'm in a bit of a lull as far as my movie watching is concerned, but I have been watching more series...
My favourites: The Wire, Breaking Bad, Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Bojack Horseman, South Park, 30 Rock, Simpsons, Rick and Morty, ...
Unfortunately I don't read as many books as I would like. The last great one I picked up was Strugatsky brothers' masterpiece Roadside Picnic (inspiration for Tarkovsky's Stalker!), I also enjoy a bit of existentalism from the likes of Camus (The Stranger) or McCarthy (Sunset Limited). Really enjoyed several Murakami novels as well (Norwegian Wood, A Wild Sheep Chase...), but that was already back in high school.
I'll just drop a couple of links to my profiles on various social networks that I've been a part of (they include lists of my favourite albums and films):

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Not sure I ever "do" amazing things. Have seen lots of amazing things though, but it is kind of hard to chose something specific. The entire week walking around London probably qualifies, but I didn't even need to go outside the country to see some of the most gorgeous nature - if you're ever in Slovenia, look for Pekel gorge or Peričnik waterfall, for example.
Teach, Learn, Share
I play chess pretty well, so if you're keen I can show you a thing or two ;)
I wish I could say I play guitar too, but while I still could teach chords and such, not playing it actively over the last couple of years has left a devastating impact on my skills :(
Countries I’ve Visited
Armenia, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Montenegro, Slovakia, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom
Countries I’ve Lived In
