ABOUT ME

Born and raised in the Netherlands, with an Indonesian background. But I rather describe myself as a world citizen, just like I consider every human being to be a fellow world citizen. After a two-year trip through several countries in the southeastern part of this world, I found it difficult to aclimatize to ´normal´ life again. It took me three years to finally buy another ticket, quite my job, move out of my house and start a new adventure. The idea is to travel around South America, but we´ll see where I will end up going this time. Being back on the road again, makes me realize that I never feel more alive anywhere else then when I´m on this road, this exploration, this life of freedom without planning and a minimum of obligations. Maybe at some point, I will long for a life with more stability again. But for now, I´m exactly where I wish to be.

PHILOSOPHY

Make sure you get the maximum out of life. Don't live life on automatic pilot, but experience every moment with intensity. Have the courage to make big decisions and big changes in your life, to solve what you complain about and to live what you dream of. Live with no regrets about the choices you made instead of wondering about those you didn't make. There's more to life than security and routine. Try impulsivity. Trust me, you'll love it! And try to spend the majority of your time working on your personal objectives, instead of someone else´s. Oh, and don't judge! And "Have less, be more". And also "In fellow humans we trust". And last but certainly not least; "Violence is never the answer".

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a variety of people in Amsterdam and I surfed couches all around Brazil. So far I've had only positive and some amazing experiences.

Intereses

At the moment I have a passion for traveling, capoeira and playing the guitar. Allthough my past has proven that an interest can change into another just as fast as I discovered it, I'm pretty sure that these three are keepers. Next to that, I like to do some climbing, trekking, chillin in the park or on the beach.

Música, películas y libros

Music: Just about anything, any music that brings me into the right state of mind. But if I have to start name calling, then reggea, dub, soul, samba, mpb, capoeira music, bonfire music are the first things that come to my mind. At the moment, I like to listen to Eddie Vedder, Fat Freddy's Drop and Natiruts.

Movies: Into the wild

Books: Speak peace in world of conflict, by Marshall B. Rosenberg. Mind Power, by James Borg. The 4-hour workweek, by Timothy Ferris. Right now I´m reading the autobiography of Nelson Mandela: Long walk to freedom.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

Right now I'm very interested in learning Portuguese (Bra) and to learn how to dance to samba, forro and other brazilian music. In return, I can teach you some dutch, english or indonesian.
