39, Happily married 5 years, 12 yr old stepdaughter. I collect yoyos. I like cooking with my wife and we spend a lot of time hiking and geocaching on weekends. When we travel we like to visit the tourist spots for sure, but its always good to know what else there is to a place and the people that live there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To be honest there are two main reasons. The first is economics. I don't like to spend a lot of money for the place I won't be spending a lot of time at. This is especially true for hotels. There isn't much reason to stay at a hotel more than just sleeping. The second reason is the most important. Couch surfing creates a destination in itself. The people who live there know the area, they become part of the vacation and part of the memories and are influencing the vacation itself. Some of the best times I have had when traveling have been when I went on an adventure with someone from the area.
