About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Turn my family homestead into a permaculture pardise.

ABOUT ME

I'm into healthy living, caring for the earth and sharing the learning and journey with others who have similiar or complimentary aspirations. I'm curious about a variety of spiritual traditions and welcome experiences that expand my worldview. I tend to be curious about things that aren't part of the consensus reality yet. I come across as serious at times but enjoy play too - especially with my orange earth-moving exoskeleton (Kubota).

PHILOSOPHY

I feel a deep resonance with permaculture's ethics: earth care, people care and fair share. If we designed all human systems with these three ethics, I think that would be enough turn the many global crisis and conflicts around.

Spiritually, I have new-age leanings. AKA: I see the universe as one evolving field of possibility. I believe we (re) incarnate to evolve through trials and tribulations on our way back to that one, fundamental source of all there is.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Build gardens. Plant trees. Compost poop. Play djembe and didgeridoo. Make Wordpress purr. Start green businesses. Cook local and organic.

Interests

Entrepreneurship, permaculture and teaching are my primary passions. This means building ecosystems that grow a huge diversity of food while improving the health of the land and water. It also includes green energy, natural building, alternative economics. I'm approaching Yoda-level skill as a Wordpress web developer but am generally aspiring to use these skills less and less in favor of working directly with the earth and people. I like tinker with my djembe and didgeridoo. I can juggle reasonably well - enjoy passing with others. Crop circles are one of my favourite esoteric subjects.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Earthy, resonant, tribal.

Books: The Ringing Cedars Series definitely continues to influence my aspirations. The Law of One Series. Permaculture Design Manual.

Movies: Thrive Movement, 2012 A Time for Change

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Done most of the usual stuff in my youth: jumped out of airplanes, bungy jumped, raves, big air on my gravity toys, etc, etc.

We get the occasional epic storm here that is exhilarating to experience.

One of my more recent big moments being chosen to be valedictorian of masters program. Huge honor.

The big one: I use a manual wheelchair to get around following a run in with gravity on my mountain bike in 97. That moment completely reoriented my life. It was and continues to be a catalyst for evolution.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some web technologies. I'm fairly advanced in my Wordpress development knowledge. I love sharing learning and teaching permaculture. I've taught lots of people to juggle.
