ABOUT ME

I'm basically good. That is, I like people and try not to hurt them. I love to dream, many many mornings have been given over to dreams that are forgotten before lunch. I am very slowly, and very slowly, improving myself.

PHILOSOPHY

1. Don't do any lasting damage until I get it figured out.
2. Figure it out.
3. I suspect that Epicurus had a lot figured out.

I've surfed and hosted.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It's been lots of fun. I've seen much more than I would have seen. I've eaten things that I wouldn't have eaten. I've gotten to meet people I would not have met. It makes life more vivid.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

(in the order that I'm remembering them)
I've written my name in blood upon the inner wall of the Colosseum of Rome.
I've played Xiangqi on the Great Wall of China.
I've flown to London to see a play.
I've walked on several glaciers.
I'm a Cool Uncle! HAHAH! (perhaps that impresses and delights you less than it does my nephew and nieces (and me))
I have never spat cherry pips off of the Eiffel Tour, that would be rude and possibly illegal.
I've slept outside in New York, Paris and Berlin. (slept best in Berlin)
I've chased off a Kodiak brown bear with a slingshot.

I've read a few books on Chinese history and have an excess of opinions and orphaned facts to share with the interested. More fun to dispute them. I've studied biology, physics and French and can provide a basic, but enthusiastic, introduction to any of them.

I'd love to learn about history, the world today, how to solve the world's problems, cooking etc.
