ABOUT ME

I am currently a graduate student at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. I am earning the Master of Music in Church Music degree with concentrations in conducting and voice. I have been here in New Orleans for four years, and I have been in school for five years. Since my undergraduate degree was in economics and not music, I had to play catch-up on some undergraduate course work in order to complete the graduate degree. I have no complaint, though, because the catch-up work has allowed me to live in the best city in the United States--New Orleans.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is shaped by Jesus Christ: love God with my whole being, and love my neighbors more than I love myself. I try to work on both every day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now, my participation in the CS Project is limited to being able to meet someone for coffee or a drink. I do hope to be able to host couchsurfers starting in the Fall. I hope to be hosted by couchsurfers this Summer, when I make a trip to Europe.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am looking to have my first couchsurfing experience this Summer!

Interests

My primary interest is choral music. There is nothing like a group of voices being united harmonically and rhythmically to communicate a good text. I love conducting and working with singers to create musical art.

I am an avid (but slow) reader. The books on my night stand cover such subjects as etiquette, Roman history, religious architecture, the Freemasons, and wine. I am re-reading "The Lord of the Rings," too.

I love going to watch movies. Even if it is junk, I'll usually see any science fiction film. I appreciate compelling documentaries when I get to watch them.

Of course, as a new couchsurfer, I am interested in TRAVEL!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I am doing right now is teaching nursing students to appreciate and understand music that is not what they normally hear. It is a thrill to watch my students consider the music they enjoy and how it has roots in something they never thought they would enjoy.
