Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While Traveling, living in a hostel is fun because I get to meet and interact with backpackers that come from different countries. However, it doesn't allow me to understand the local way of life and culture in a realistic level. Therefore, I figure, couchsurfing enables me to get in touch with the locals and blend into the local part of life and routine. That way not only I have made a local friend, but I am able to establish a deeper connection with the people and culture of that place I visit, which I find it is the most important meaning of my journey of backpacking.

Interests

When traveling, getting to understand and learning about different culture has always been my interest.
Other than languages, I find that in order to be able to relate to someone that comes from different places, background, culture, and beliefs, will allow me to understand why people do different things, and be able have a deeper connection with people not just a merely "hello, and bye" friendship , but a more meaningful ones.

Traveling to different countries makes me realised that, being able to Travel itself is a privilege.
I have traveled to country where I met people and understood the wages they earned and the country economics situation that putting a bowl of rice on the table for every dinner is a struggle, not to mention being afford an education that will equip them to get a high paying job. These people did not choose to be born in such disadvantage place. Scenes like this actually makes me think, that the world is really unfair from the get-go. We are all born in different places that one has more advantages than the others. Many things that we accomplished as a person has little to do with our effort and abilities if we are not born in the right place. Therefore, from incidents like this, I have learn to be humble and grounded, and taking less credit to what I can do.
