ABOUT ME

I'm an American born and bred, but am a self-proclaimed French fanatic. It all started innocently enough with a simple French course, but then I ate a croissant and then I went to Paris and now I'm in Marseille--currently spending my time as a language assistant at a French high school. I love the French language and am always interested to learn more about the culture, though I should clarify that this love affair does not preclude an interest in other cultures. I'm also eager to learn other languages, hopefully Arabic and Spanish.

I enjoy reading, writing, interesting conversation, ultimate frisbee!! or just tossing a disc..., running, biking, staying active in general, going to the movies, listening to music, eating good food, going out on the town...

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not against any particular genre of music because I've found that each one seems to have gifted artists (and by the same token not so gifted ones...) I usually listen to rap, hip-hop, jazz, some pop and alternative, classic rock, a little r&b and soul, and always happy to hear classical.
Movies: again more about quality than genre... I lean towards thrillers/actions/spy films and dramas but I'll admit I'm a sucker for chick flicks... all depends on the mood.
For books, I'm a huge fan of Virginia Woolf. After that it's quite a mix: Kathryn Davis, Diane Johnson, Voltaire, Orwell, Al Franken, Chomsky, Bill Bryson, Patricia Highsmith, Tahar Ben Jelloun

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelled down the Amazon River in a medical boat for a week.
