About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet interesting people on adventures who love to travel.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in a classical musical family. My father played first clarinet in the San Diego Symphony. My Mom, now 87, still teaches piano. Both my parents are first generation Americans. My grandparents were born in Iceland and Sicily. I moved to San Francisco in 1963, at 18, wanting to be an actress, and instead married a struggling Jazz basist. We lived in Marin County, San Anselmo, in a 1906 cottage and had three children. Eventually, in 1980, we moved to South Pasadena (more career opportunities for Bobby in LA). In 1986 we divorced and I retired from the Jazz life to a 10 acre ranch in the High Desert. I worked as a real estate agent specializing in rural ranch properties and vacant land, and enjoyed a quiet country life for many years. I remarried a former jazz trumpet player and big band composer who worked in an electronic's firm in the cable TV industry as a lab manager and project coodinator(steady income). He also is very talented as a handyman and we've remodled two homes together, as well as enjoyed his wood working abilities with home furnishing he's made. We have a lovely home in Juniper Hills that we had to rent out when his company relocated to San Diego. Now we are back home after 2 1/2 years and he's retired. I'm back in Real Estate and my husband works on contract with his former company on line.

PHILOSOPHY

In the movie Harvey, Jimmy Stewart says that to get ahead in life people have to be "oh so smart, or oh so nice". He preferred being "nice" and I agree. Living by the golden rule, aware of "karma", what goes around comes around, etc. is an easy way to relate. I believe in Kindness and the power of LOVE. Organized religion is not for me, although I respect other people's beliefs. It might be comfortable to have strong philosophic or religious convictions, but I prefer to remain open to WONDER regarding the universe and man's destiny.

Music, Movies, and Books

Classical and Jazz music, Old movies like Katharine and Spence, Cary Grant, anything with Tom Hanks, and in litature: all the classic; Dickens, Austen, Bronte, etc., along with Tolkien and saga's like Winds of War, Gone with the Wind, Galsworthy's Forsyte Saga, Paul Scott's Raj Quartet, and Grisham and Hillerman mysteries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen double rainbows after a storm, the aurora borealis in California, Halley's comet, the Grand Canyon, the glow of the Watt's fire sixty miles away,
huge flocks of birds in migration, California Grey whales, and experienced the beauty of many State and National parks. We've enjoyed Prague, London, bits of Germany, Canada and Baja and the gold coast of Mexico. I witnessed the birth of my nephew, Asa, and felt the tremendous rush of life's first breath.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have sympathy and compassion and know death is real, so could share my simple ideas regarding harmony and enjoyment in relationships. It isn't hard, really, to let go and live in the moment, and learn forgiveness. I'm not an expert, but could also share some cooking hints and the use of herbs and spices. If you write music and need lyrics, I'm good at that. I'd loved to learn more about other countries; their food, holidays and customs.
