Here are bits from the old couchsurfing format that I've left in.

Love working with my hands, find it very fulfilling.

I try my hand at languages whenever I can, even though I usually only manage to attain the linguistic skills of a five year old.

I like to find work in the places that I want to visit - work that involves meeting people. Socially inclined stuff is even better.

Travelled around rural India a bit, usually on research projects, which kept me in the one area for a long time.

Activities that I'm somewhat regular at: Sailing, swimming, running, ultimate frisbee, bouldering, kayaking

I believe that there is no permanence, that there are no absolutes. (This is from the 'philosophy' section of the old format. I thought I'd keep it)

I tell people about the concept. I dream about a world with open borders. I've hosted a couple of times and I've hung out or played frisbee with couchsurfers my friends were hosting.

When I was at the Chilika lagoon in Odisha, India, I got to see a dozen or more Irrawaddy dolphins feeding in formation for a good four minutes. It was like watching synchronised swimming but even more amazing.

A Tibetan colony with large fenced white washed houses and people walking around with umbrellas in the middle of rural Chattisgarh, India where the roads were almost non existent and the closest tribal village had crumbling mud houses.

Running and picnicking in the fascinating tunnel system that runs under Paris, south of the Seine. It felt like being in a film that was a mix of A Clockwork Orange and Underground
