I am a Canadian artist/teacher who is currently living in England. I moved here to experience the world and push myself outside my comfort zone. I am working as a server, so I do shift work, which can be tiring, but when I am not at work you will find me working on my art practice, binging Netflix shows, exploring the city with friends, drinking way too much coffee, baking delicious treats, or trying out an exciting new makeup look.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have lived in the UK for 8 months now, and I am getting antsy. It is time for me to start travelling around Mainland Europe. I want to see it ALL! I know that won't be possible, as I am on a very strict budget, but I am hoping to meet locals who can show me a different side of the cities I visit. Being an artist, art and architecture will always be number one on my list of must-sees, but how can you travel without seeing what the local side of a city is like? I want to go off the beaten path, find treasured coffee shops, eat authentic food, explore hidden history, and meet the people who make the city live.
I am hoping that couchsurfing will be my way to meet people and also keep my budget in check, helping me see as much of Europe as possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Coheed and Cambria will forever be my favourite band (obsessed!). I mainly listen to indie and alternative genres, but am a lover all things. You can find me listening to rockabilly one day and throwback 90s pop the next.

Movies: I love watching dramas, comedies, thrillers, some horror, and of course...romance!

Books: I mostly read research books focussing on folklore, history, and feminist and western cultural theory. I am also fond of comics and some biographical novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have done a lot of amazing things, but selling off all my stuff and moving across an ocean with next to no plan has got to be the best so far. No one at home believed in me, they never thought I would last more than 3 months, but now I am 8 months in and I still don't want to go home. It has been incredibly tough, but I have learnt a lot, I have found myself, I have seen wonders of the world, and this adventure isn't over yet.

I love having conversations where we can share our knowledge of our specified areas, travel stories, life lessons. I would love to be able to engage in this type of sharing, specifically about art and cultural theory.
