We are an active couple living in a grand old neighborhood in Southwest Detroit. We are non-religious and socially liberal.

PHILOSOPHY

We believe in giving back more than we take. We believe that social diversity in all it's forms adds to the richness of life.

Favorites change but currently, because like so many of the best quotes I hear, it at first seems esoteric and simple but becomes more profound and concise as one thinks about it, we like Jack Nicholson's quote when asked about his personal philosophy: "More Fun"

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have thus far not hosted and have been a guest only once. That was a very nice experience. We know our city pretty well and can offer tips or guiding if wanted.

Interests

We love our city. In Detroit, a person is free to do what they want. It's like Greenwich Village meets Dodge City. We are excited about the proliferation of activism, grassroots entrepreneurial ventures, and artistic ventures that are being spawned in the vacuum created by the exit of industry and 2/3 of the population. We are sure to be aware of as many of the things happening in our city as we can be. We attend local small film theaters and visit art galleries, attend the festivals, eat at local eateries, shop in the small urban stores, support the local music scene, buy our food from local grocers and growers. We create some art ourselves and host a monthly artist group in our third floor studio.
Aside from that we love to travel. We have been all over the eastern, midwest, and southwest United States and Eastern Canada and plan to begin more international travel soon, starting in Africa.
We have a cottage on Lake Erie in Ontario.
We love the Great Lakes and recognize the uniqueness of this region in the world. We get outdoors as much as possible, hiking, camping, fishing, hunting in Northern Michigan.
