Overview
About Me
Although I am German, I studied in the UK and lived and worked there for most of my life, teaching Maths, Theory of Knowledge and Japanese (ab initio) at an international school. Six years ago I decided to 'retire' early and move to (a) Berlin, Germany, where I have an apartment and spend a few months every year, and (b) Kigali, Rwanda, where I am working at a school, as a 'local'.
I have done a lot of travelling, mostly to visit friends - fortunately many of my friends live in interesting places.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
While I travel mostly to visit friends, many of whom live in interesting places, so that I would usually not need a place to stay, two of my friends have used it regularly and 'advertised' it, so I thought I would try it.
Interests
My lives in Rwanda and in Berlin are very different: when I am in Rwanda, I am always with other people, at work and at home, even at night. But when I am in Berlin, I am nearly always on my own, and so I read a lot (novels, psychology, economics), go to concerts (classical), go swimming, and enjoy the food (cakes) and drink (wine) that are difficult to get in Rwanda.
