About Me

HOME

We have been on our 9h block of land for two years now, developing organic gardens, orchards and animals and we're building a big shed using natural timbers milled locally and on the farm. We have begun designing our home that we want to build in the next few years. We have a one year old little girl now and are loving the new balance in the family.

ABOUT ME

We are a creative, melting pot of a family made up of French, Chinese, Scottish, Kiwi and Māori. Both Natacha and Josh are designers and experienced film makers, Tash being a focus puller and Josh a Production Designer. Tahi is eight years old, Miro five and Kuihi one year.

We are into organics and permaculture, sustainable architecture and everything else you would expect from a family wanting to step out of the rat race. Life is beautiful if you learn how to appreciate it!

PHILOSOPHY

"Be the change that you wish to se in the world." Ghandi

"Rocket. Yeah." Def Leppard

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've had some great travellers stay with us and we stayed in Barcelona with a fantastic host in 2013 on our big world trip. Traveling with kids is awesome!

Interests

Organics, sustainable living, permaculture, film making, hunting, photography, home schooling, animal husbandry, books (death to television!), drawing, design of all kinds, the outdoors, sailing, walking, the mountains and surfing.

The boys love Lego, dancing to dub-step and Def Leppard, eating everything, playing with water, surfing, the beach and dinosaurs. Our new little girl loves animals and screaming in a joyous fashion.

Music, Movies, and Books

All music. Independent/festival films. Free books from the Salvation Army. Any book recommended by a friend.

Josh only reads free books from the Salvation Army. He like to smell each book but has only ever found one that actually smells good. It was a pretty awful story though...something about hunting whales and being stuck on an ice berg.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Between us, we have travelled in dozens of countries...from icy Patagonia to Cartagena in Colombia and everything in between, China, Thailand, Tunisia, Morocco, Australia, USA and many more...tacoyaki in Osaka too.

Traveling by barge down the Mamore river in Boliva for ten days is the greatest adventure Josh has ever had (apart from having kids!). We finished our trip before the tributary met the Amazon and spent a crazy weekend in Guayaramerin and even made it onto television for our novelty.

Teach, Learn, Share

Ask and we will teach. Tell and we will listen. Cook and we will definitely eat!
