Hello, my name is Kaiyan (pronounced 'cayenne') from Singapore. By day, I make documentaries at a local online publisher called Our Grandfather Story. Search for us on social media :-)

Though I'd love to be called a traveller of the world, I much prefer sleeping in reality. Love oceans, adventures and also a decent cook.

I started Couchsurfing back in 2014, where I spent a semester on university exchange in Jönköping, a small Swedish town at the tip of a beautiful lake bigger than Singapore. I travelled through Europe that year, and things have never really been the same since. Living out of my backpack, befriending locals and finding hidden treasure spots became a huge part of my life.

Now, I'm hoping to explore Asia - Vietnam, Indonesia, Japan, China ...

To share, to learn and to experience - I believe it'll always be great fun to hang out with people of like-minded interests and see their city through their eyes. Hence I am taking this big step out of my little bubble to be more than a regular visitor to a city.

And also because I enjoy picking up new languages... and just learning more about the world from people I meet :-)

Apart from travelling, my interests include filmmaking, cooking and food.

When travelling, I like meeting new people, discovering quaint local areas buzzing with creative vibes and having a good meal. Bring on the good vibes!

I love to learn new languages. I can speak both English and Chinese, and am always interested to learn foreign phrases! I enjoy cooking too, so we can cook together!

Singapore! I can share about the people I've met at work (there are some pretty interesting people I've had the opportunity to document) or cook some Singaporean food for you. And of course feel free to contact me if you come to Singapore one day :-)

And of course, I want to share a good conversation. I find myself older than my age (don't fret - I'm definitely not a young party girl who would come back to your apartment drunk!) so I guess we can talk about almost everything under the sun. I really love having conversations and I find myself exchanging so much from all my CS hosts.
