Couchsurfing seems like a great way to meet new people, and experience a country in a very different way than the conventional route.

Riding (motorcycle), snowboarding, rock climbing, people watching, exploring nature, traveling to new places, experiencing new things, drinking, and many others.

My favorite movies include Oldboy (probably one of the greatest films ever made), Memento, American History X, and many other intense, emotionally disturbing films, but I also enjoy a good heartwarming film every now and again. For books, I like works by authors ranging from Bukowski to the Dalai Lama.
