About Me

Hello.

I'm still learning a lot, but I've been around. Asia taught me the joys and challenges of teaching kids, before fumbling hard and returning to the States to regroup. Here, I played in the dirt, sowed my sweat, and am reaping the rewards of partnership with an abundant place. I am a bodyworker, space holder, and tea drinker in practice these days. I'm usually happily kicking around my apartment, or enjoying the local scene. Feel free to join me; I'm excited to get to know you.

PHILOSOPHY

I live for the little pleasures. And the big ones. And even the displeasures. The point is that life is somehow worth living, and a big part of that is the things that stretch me, that grant me insight, that make me feel a new feeling, or think in a different way.

I feel humbled by the beauty around me. Each moment offers a blossom of meaning. Breathing here, we can share what we know we have in common; the fragrance of now. Moving together, we can find out what else might bloom for us.

CURRENT MISSION
Be well. With Others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hospitality is a sacred art. I am happy to contribute to this by making a good meal, and giving someone a break a sliver of home-feeling. I know what it is like to be a tumbleweed, and sometimes, even tumbleweeds need a hot shower and a clean comfy couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have enjoyed the guests that my friends surf with, as well as the ones who have surfed my couch. They are all wonderful people with plentiful intrigue, and I am proud to be among them.

Interests

Tea, gender, identity, cooking, Taoism, new media, linguistics, plants, sleep, fashion, gardening, social change, food systems, deconstructing white supremacy.

Music, Movies, and Books

Doubt, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Short Bus, Arrival, and Cave of Forgotten Dreams are all fantastic films.

I am really out of the music loop. My auditory world is rather sparse, and often features American and World Folk, old and new. On the other hand, I need a heavy base line to drop into my favorite kind of dancing...

I really enjoy "The Years of Rice and Salt" at the moment. Natural histories including "Tending the Wild" and "Gathering Moss" are showing me more about how humans can learn from plants. Poetry, Anyone? A haiku will stick with me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have touched a blue frog. The beautiful mutant lacked yellow skin pigment, apparently.

Every time I see moss, I think how wonderfully still life must be there. And how sitting there would certainly disturb that peace. I have to cultivate my own—peace. And moss.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to become a better communicator.

I want to know to create a space that is safer and more liberating for those around me.

I can show you some massage technique, or co-council you regarding complex romantic configurations.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I cook. And I really like tea. I could share my teamaking. I usually do.

I keep a clean space, and would gladly assist in an easy-breezy cooking experience.
