I'm a PhD student from Poland (Art & Humanities). I work a lot, thus travels are my way of escaping from everyday duties. I like to spend my free time outdoors: riding horses, sightseeing or doing art (specifically drawing or painting).

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I do believe that the best way to actually get to know any new place (both country or region) is to meet with people who live there. Plus, I think that couchsurfing may be a great way to make new friendships. It is based on the idea of selfless mutuality, help and openness. In other words I do identify with this concept.

Intereses

1. I ride horses regularly. One of my dreams is to visit Turkmenistan (the cradle of Akhal Teke horses). I am trying to learn new style now - western. Let me say I am making some progress though, there is a long way to go :)
2. About art - I’ve finished art school. Nevertheless, nowadays I draw and paint only for myself. Unfortunately, it is a kind of hobby which I really enjoy, but I do not have a lot of time for it.
3. I do like cooking and eating. Especially, the second part of this duet is a great pleasure for me. I love to explore new cuisines and tastes, so it is hard to point one kind of food which I love most.
4. Oh yes, culture…! As a cultural anthropologist I’m fascinated with culture as a phenomenon. I like to spend my time on long discussions with people who can present me their habits, rituals or their unique talents and passions. I hope I can retaliate with the same thing. And obviously travels are a crucial part of this experience.
5. Recreating my family story - For now I am interviewing my oldest relatives in order to record their memories and eventually written them down.

Música, películas y libros

I do not have any specific kind of music and films which I like the most. If I would have to choose one music style I would probably say rock and in case of films - documentary films and drama.
About reading: since I can say that I ‘read professionally’ (or at least it is a great part of my work), I do not have a lot of time to read anything else. Hopefully, I will get back to that after my defense. Happily, I do like my work, so in the end it is a pleasure.

It depends on how you would define extraordinary. I think that there was something unique and exceptional in all my travel experiences. Choosing one thing would not be fair.

Again – it is very hard to answer this question.
On one hand there are many measurable things in which I can help like different kinds of house works, but on the other there is a great amount of things – like sharing your knowledge and time with someone – which are very hard to describe or measure. I think it depends on the specific situation.
