CURRENT MISSION

I have always harbored a secret desire to host a travel show on the travel channel (it sounds like an incredible job to me). For now, I content myself with traveling to as many places around the world as I can. Still, if Law School doesn't work out...

ABOUT ME

Right now I'm a college student in New England, and I love it. I've lived in the US all my life, but I have never imagined remaining here forever. As such, I'm excited to travel to as many different parts of the world as possible, and maybe even pick a spot of the globe for future relocation!

Travel, travel, travel. Help others. And when you can, travel AND help others.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Since I currently attend college in a different state than my permanent home, I can't really offer to host couchsurfers. But I am more than happy to meet up for coffee or a drink with interested surfers visiting Miami or Boston, provided that I'm actually there at the time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I don't have any couchsurfing experience yet, but I am hoping to couchsurf this August 2009 while on a trip to Ireland, mostly because it just seems like the ideal way to travel. If the whole point of travel is to get to know a slice of life different than the one you usually inhabit, what better way is there to do this than by staying with the locals of the lands you're visiting? To adopt their customs, practices, senses of humor... that is what traveling and getting to know a place means to me.

兴趣

I'm sure I couldn't list all of my interests off the top of my head, but a few of them include: art (I'm studying art history in part, and right now I'm especially interested in graffiti art like that of Fafi); I'm a huge fan of all kinds of music; I'm just now beginning to learn how to sketch with watercolor pencils, and that has become a kind of obsession; I'm studying Government in school and am especially interested in the justice systems of recently-developed countries. I'm not a very great cook although I do enjoy the attempt! By this, I mean to say that I have a very limited knowledge of how to cook certain dishes, and those will come out very well. All others...are better thought of as experiments :) (which is why cooking remains purely a sometime hobby) And of course, I am very interested in travel!

Music: Cake, Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon, The Strokes, Fiona Apple, Flogging Molly, Regina Spektor, Lavender Diamond, (some) Bjork, Sufjan Stevens, and MIA, are a few. I'm into almost all kinds of music, and I especially have a paradoxical love of the very, very loud and the very, very hushed-quiet.

Movies: Ordinary People, Forrest Gump, Pride and Prejudice, Roman Holiday, All the President's Men, Spirited Away, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, just to name a few.

Books: The God of Small Things, The Count of Monte Cristo, Santa Evita, The Chocolate War, Pride and Prejudice, Plan of Attack, The Angel of History, Mrs. Dalloway, and Yes Man (great book, awful movie) are a couple of my favorites.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I do not have the best balance in the world, and this was especially evident in my visit of George Washington's home, Mount Vernon, in Washington, D.C.: As I descended down a slope in the backyard of the house, I accidentally caught momentum and found myself flipped over a small brick wall at the end of the slope...and suspended miles above a forest and running river. Luckily, some friends were there to help me back over the wall :)

I don't have many practical skills, I'm afraid, but I would be more than happy to teach as much Spanish or English as a person would like to learn. For my own part, I would like to learn anything that a host or fellow surfer wishes to share.
