Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Brit come to see what's on this side of the pond for a few months, before hopefully moving to Vietnam to have a go at teaching English.
ABOUT ME
Love travelling, meeting new people and experiencing other cultures.
Past: Used to work in environmental management and civil defence.
Present: Taking a career-break from saving the world to go see more of it (and hopefully volunteer a bit of saving along the way).
Future: Become a Park Ranger and - together with a trusty canine sidekick - teach children about their world. You know, nothing too specific.
PHILOSOPHY
A quote from a professional personality test that really hit home: "In your world there are no strangers, only friends you haven’t met yet—lots of them."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love travelling alone and normally stay in hostels to meet new people. However, I meet more people from my own part of the world than locals that way. So I figure this would be a cool thing to throw into the mix.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Shortly after the announcement of Brexit, I set myself a mission to visit every country on the European continent before the UK crashed out in a fireball. I completed all 45 countries by February 2019. Then they extended the deadline 10 months. I'm over it; onto the next adventure.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm very open-minded and like to try all new things at least once; so I can make an informed assessment rather than a judgement. Some things I'd love to try while on this trip, if you're experienced:
- Surfing
- Kayaking / Canoeing
- Spiritual Practices/Meditation (e.g. Tai Chi, Yoga, etc.)
- Harmonica (as I made a point of packing it!)
- Arts and Crafts (I know I have a creative side but sadly haven't embraced an outlet yet)
What I Can Share with Hosts
- My travel experiences for your local knowledge.
- I'm homely and tidy; certainly happy to help with housework and not too shabby with minor DIY.
- Love to cook (I've never made Fish 'n' Chips, sorry, but I can give it a bash if it's really what you want!).
- Above average with technology and gadgets (bit of a geek).
- I guess if I'm going to teach English, I should offer help with that too!
