CURRENT MISSION

I have always felt a strong desire to travel, meet people, understand cultural identity, eat, drink, and listen to music in new places. I have finally decided, at the age of 28, to begin feeding this desire.

ABOUT ME

I am 28 years old. My girlfriend, Glo, and I rent a small house near downtown Houston, Texas. We are adventurous in spirit.

I like to write and draw, paint sometimes. I love to eat and drink adventurously and listen to all kinds of music. Glo is a talented hairstylist who likes to push the envelope, explore, meet people, wear strange clothes, and exercise. We live a pretty simple life, and enjoy spending time with our families and friends.

PHILOSOPHY

We want to explore. We do not seek affluence, but do seek the resources to see the world and get to know its people.

Cinephile might be a fair description. My appetite for film is insatiable. I love the work of Akira Kurosawa, Stanley Kubrick, Luis Bunuel, the Coen Brothers, Fritz Lang, Melville, and many more. I am currently catching up on the great work that has been coming out of South Korea in the last twenty years (Park Chan-wook, Joon Bong-ho, and more).

I do not read enough, but when I do, I gravitate to the the work of Tom Robbins, Kurt Vonnegut, Christopher Moore, Neil Gaiman. I enjoy whimsy.

My love for music is ever-evolving. I love delta blues, rocksteady and reggae, rock, jazz, zydeco, brass band. I love the Talking Heads, Television, Tom Waits, Wilco, Lightnin' Hopkins, Timber Timbre, Sam Cooke, 13th Floor Elevators, The Flaming Lips, Built to Spill, Johnny Cash, Radiohead, The Cure, Gogol Bordello. I stay away from the "Top 40" stuff and overproduced American pop, but there is plenty of independent/experimental pop music that I get down to. I adore live music. The more intimate and run-down the venue, the better.

The days we have spent on Culebrita island, snorkeling and exploring, without a human in sight but a couple of our dearest friends. Receiving a lesson in impermanence, knowing that the island is off limits at night, and Captain Willy will be coming to collect us as the sun starts to set.
