I used to be a serious chess player, but then it felt boring, and my progress stagnated so I pursued my second passion which is programming. I listen to EDM, including techno (tribal time, hard, melodic), Eurodance, club music etc. I like dancing solo like shuffle, and also social dances like bachata, lindy hop or swing. I like skating on a skateboard, inline skates or BMX. I like table tennis, working out, archery. I like psychotropic experiences like OM chanting.

Traveling makes me feel I'm free and alive. I sometimes go hiking or to a museum specific to a country and learn a about the history in an interactive way. Or sometimes I just chill with locals, trying to get to know their perspective on the region I'm visiting.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet interesting people, and see as much of world as possible. My dream is to visit all the continents. So far I've been in Europe, South America and Africa. Next year I'm planning to start a trip across Asia.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 16, I took part in regional chess eliminations for the national chess championship U18 in Poland. I was the underdog, because there were 8 players, 4 were to advance, and I was the last by rating. Nevertheless, I had trained very hard, 4 hours a day for the 2 years prior to the event, and I believed I could make it. Furthermore, when I started scoring, the 4 best players realized their promotion is in jeopardy and started to agree on quick draws, attempting to intentionally get rid of me. However, I was too good, and they couldn't beat me, I advanced to the finals and it was the best day of my life. 3000hrs that I had put into it were worth it.

Over 10 years have passed, and tears still fog my eyes every single time I think about that day. It was more than just a win for me. It made me realize that I can take agency in my life and I can achieve something significant despite all my upbringing and the innate traits that work against me. Despite no one believing in my success. None at all. Every time the world tries me, I remember my hard work and the outcome of it and it motivates me to stand by my values and overcome challenges I face.

Then, when I was 17, I placed 1st in the regional, and then finished 36th in the national U18.
