To misrepresent myself in such a way that people think I am interesting
I was living in Hong Kong for 5 years and will be repatriating to the US with my company back to Boston. However, before doing so I am taking 6 months off to travel with my girlfriend Elaine (https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/unipsychlist). Our itinerary is the following:
- starting in July we are going to Vietnam for a little over a week.
- driving Elaine's car from LA to Detroit from mid July to early August
- biking in Europe for 2 months
- traveling Australia/New Zealand for 2 months (mode of transit to be decided)
I am a pretty outgoing and active person. Up for whatever and always looking to make things more memorable/unique.
It is the interactions you have on a trip that make it memorable, the sights are just an added bonus.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I tried out Couchsurfing when I traveled Europe in the Summer of 2010 and just kept the profile and hosted about 40 people or so in Boston. I hosted a little bit in Hong Kong but with the working hours, I would only see people to hand them the keys and then again to take them back. Plan to get back to hosting next year when I am resettled in Boston.
I find Couchsurfing a great way to turn a boring click and shoot vacation to one that really helps you understand the town and culture of where you are staying. People are genuinely good, despite what FAKE NEWS says, and view Couchsurfing as a true testament to this.
I am a big history person (even though I went to school for math) and want to fit as much knowledge in my head as is humanly possible which currently isn't much.
