CURRENT MISSION

It may sound cliché but my mission is to develop a picture of the world. Sitting in one place and hearing about other places isin't enough for me. I want to see as much as I can and try my best to keep it authentic :)

ABOUT ME

I'm a mixture of random things. People are often confused when they meet me and find I was born and raised in Hawai'i. I don't immediately seem like and island girl but the truth is I'm addicted to the sun, the sea and anything outdoors. Although it takes effort I also enjoy flexing my mind in academics. I'm pretty chill and aim to be friendly, even if I come off shy sometimes. I aim to respect people and learn about their lifestyles :)

PHILOSOPHY

Happiness is not a constant state. Everyone's experience is different, and it can only be judged by themselves. I seek to understand, embrace and love. Let there always be two sides to a story. I live for the moments where I think, "I am a part of a much bigger picture." Sometimes I look around me at people and places and realize it's all too beautiful to be pointless.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I plan on opening my home when I return. I live in a desirable location on the North Shore of Oahu. Growing up I've met people from all over the world who are thrilled to finally see infamous surf spots and beaches. I've always loved giving them advice, or taking friends and family around. If my experience with the site is positive, I'll return the favor!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't couchsurfed yet but I have paid to stay in a small room at a flat in Ireland. It was much better than a hotel or hostel. The owners chatted with me, and gave me suggestions. I loved all their stories, and hanging out with them in their living room. It really spurred me to check this website out.

Music, Movies, and Books

So many! Movies off the top of my head: Snatch, '71, P.S I Love You (chick flick, I know), Safety Not Guaranteed, All Harry Potter books/Films, Domino, Burn After Reading, Most Quentin Tarantino films. Books: Gone Girl, Looking For Alaska, Once Upon A River, Hunger Games (I'll Admit It), Any books by Sarah Dunant (historical fiction writer)...the list goes on. Music: Rebelution, Matisyahu, Enya, Alabama Shakes, Outkast, I'm open to all (there are few songs I hate).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Whew. This is always a hard decision, but I have to pick the Na Pali coast. When I was fourteen I hiked 10 miles of Hawaii's most difficult coast line to reach a waterfall. I've been planning on going back ever since. It's absolutely gorgeous.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know some Hawaiian words and culture :) surfing, canoe paddling, swimming, diving I have experience with all. I know foods and some myths. I don't have much hand with art or music but I can do my best to introduce the culture :)
