My name is Karalee and I'm a student at the University of Iowa. Right now, however, I am spending a year abroad in Freiburg, Germany! It has been a great opportunity to travel all over Europe, which is something I've always wanted to do, but could have never imagined it would be this great. Before my study abroad began, travel was a bit intimidating. Now I have no problem discovering new cities on my own - though company is always nice. :)

I am studying German because I have always wanted to be able to speak another language..and I happened to choose German! And I love it! My real study/career plan involves elementary education. I want to become an elementary teacher in the US within the next few years.

I enjoy all types of music, but my favorites tend to be a bit more alternative. I am a huge fan of Twenty One Pilots and Rise Against. Other bands I love are Silversun Pickups and Chevelle. Any Midwest - rock type of music is always a go to for me.

I like all kinds of movies, but usually the ones that are realistic but with a twist...my favorites are Rosemary's Baby, Looper, Shutter Island, HP...my favorite Disney movie is Tarzan (the soundtrack though..the BEST) and the best movie I've seen recently is 10 Cloverfield Lane.

Some of my favorite books are Catcher in the Rye, Harry Potter, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Middlesex, My Sister's Keeper (the movie adaptation was the biggest letdown), Room, It's Kind of a Funny Story,.....

My favorite memory while abroad would have to be the time I crashed some sort of celebration outside of a restaurant in Prague. Megan and I ended up participating in a barrel - building contest. There was some paparazzi (haha or not) so we are probably on the front page of a Czech newspaper... ;)
