About Me

Right now, I’m off on another adventure, so I can’t host. I feel I am missing out on all the amazing people who would come through, but I guess our paths shall cross a different way!
********

I love to experience life, and we find it easy to do this when living in new places. I have long recognized that people are only aware of things when doing them for the first time, I'm always trying new things.

I am gregarious and will fairly easily reach out to people just to find out who they are and how they view life. This serves as a comparison to help me see myself.

I spend exorbitant amounts of time outside. I have an open door policy at my home, so friends can just pop in whenever they're nearby.

I go to Burning Man every year. I love to talk with others about the amazing culture and the quality of people found there. I have gotten more and more involved in Burner activities around the world, finding community in new places.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have always had the CS philosophy, long before the internet was born to the public, inviting travelers to stay and share and learn from each other. That's my spice of life. I believe the best way to participate in the couch surfing project is to be active participants in life. Sharing human community and restoring the belief that strangers are not scary, they are friends you haven't met yet, has the biggest long-term impact on the world.

I've been doing CS since 2009, but split with my ex-husband, so my references are linked to that account. You can see more if you look up Karen and Pedro Bicchieri. I copy some here so you can see I have been vouched for as a host many times :)

These two were awesome fun, I had a great time with them. They were very easy to get along with and let me do what ever. They took me to the local hang out for a great time and food. Will defiantly be coming back next time I am in town. Even if its to say hi and grab a beer

We had Jim with us for one great Friday night! Jim is a fun guy filled with laughter and smiles. The three of us visited a local watering hole, enjoyed a couple cold ones, had a blast talking and telling stories. Saturday morning Jim made an awesome breakfast for the three of us, bacon, eggs, and pancakes! Then he even did the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen!

Myself (Liz) and my partner stayed one night in Karen's VW camper van. Everything about our stay was charming. We arrived in the evening and Karen and her friend greeted us with an outdoor fire ring. The stay in the camper van was cozy, and a little haphazard, but great considering it was very very cold outside. The next morning Karen provided smooth coffee, sightseeing advice, and conversation.

Liz and her boyfriend came through town for an evening. Though we had little time together, she opened my eyes to several interesting ideas within the span of a morning cup of coffee. They were kind and polite.

Karen and Pedro were just amazing. They seem to have living life down to a fine art, without putting much thought or effort into it. If you are lucky enough to briefly live with thses two intelligent, fun people, I am sure you will pick up some pointers as to how to live life properly. Plus they have a keg in the back yard!! Have fun in the rabbit warren :)

Denis is awesome! he fell right into swing with whatever happened to be going on, which was a willingness to sleep in our VW bus since the house has been in construction, going to the local watering hole for dinner, and meeting new friends who he engaged with on all kinds of topics, laughter throughout. Interesting and great guy -- host him, you'll see!

Karen and Pedro were so helpful and friendly. Karen recommended a great local bike ride for me and my friend, Lisa (we loved the Canyon Road ride!!) and Pedro taught me all about Italian coffee and heating a VW camper van in the winter. They were great to stay with, and Pedro even sent us home with fresh chicken eggs :-)

Karen and Pedro Bicchieri
We hosted Cassandra while she and a friend were taking a cool trip biking from each stop. she was smiley and nice, polite and clean. I would host her again -- that way i could get a chance to chat with her more.

I surfed with Karen and Pedro while on my long hitchhiking tour across the USA. They were sweet and laid-back hosts, we had some tasty food and watched "The Last Waltz" 1978 movie, warming near their fireplace. I wish I had another day to stay and explore Ellensburg, but I left next morning, and they even hooked me up with another ride! They are great people to meet, if you find yourself in that part of WA.

Anton's totally cool and we were happy to be able to help on his journey. We happened to be in a position to give him a lift from Seattle area to eburg and had a friend who brought him to Moses lake. We tried to make him feel he could just relax, but couldn't stop him from doing the dishes! Best wishes on your journey, Anton!

Pedro and Karen were great hosts. They have plenty of room for guests, and lots of fun outdoors space at their place, the best part is the kegerator filled with the local brew. Pedro gave me a tour of town and the local brewery, and they had an impromptu party the night I was there, with some great food and friends. I am really glad I surfed with them.

Greg was really friendly and nice and fun to hang around with and introduce to friends. He's totally self sufficient yet eager to find new tips from those good ideas that float around from all of our experiences as humans. We're really glad to have gotten to host him and have a chance to re-up our motiviations as travelers and general experiencers. He might make you get a little too excited about life... Great to meet you, Greg!

My way of traveling, through couch surfing or not, is to payback using fix-it skills. As an example, we stayed with a new friend for the first time who we had met in a remote hot spring and clicked with. Brushing our teeth, we noticed that the sink drained really slowly, an annoyance they had all been dealing with for a while, but didn't know how to fix. My ex fixed it the next morning while I weeded the garden, and we left after breakfast.

I believe the best way to participate in the couch surfing project is to be active participants in life. Sharing human community and restoring the belief that strangers are not scary, they are friends you haven't met yet, has the biggest long-term impact on the world.
