About Me

Welcome to Guanajuato! This is a magical place.

Sometimes I'm not in town, so check my availability to host by message. Also sometimes my duties keep me busy, or we have guests at the house, so if I can't host you, I will let you know and for sure I'm totally in for hanging out and showing around! ;)

I've been a backpacker around the world for the several years, so I've been in your place. In case you need any local advice or want to walk around and go to real local places, let me know.

Even I'm a bit busy with the daily life duties, I will always do my best to share some time with you. I love listening to people's stories! I'll be happy to hear yours.

I used to share an account with another travelling partner in the past, so I got some more references in that account. I put the screenshots on the album "Couch Photos" in case you want to check them ;)

I live with Kiko, my boyfriend and adventure partner. Here's a bit about us:

Kiko ~ The creative side of us. Chef and unstoppable machine for new ideas and businesses. Passionate about bicycles, parties and everything related to food. Well experienced in cycling trips around Mexico.

Karen ~ The organized part of us. Nomad spirit, nature lover, easy going. The smartest way to live is flowing and adapting to change. Recently very passionate about planet care.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The true magic of an amazing trip, is not about the place by itself, but actually in the people you meet.

Interests

We both love outdoor sports, specially rock climbing, MTB and running. Even I don't speak lots of languages, I like them a lot.

Food is our big passion: go to the market, buy veggies and fruits, learn new recipes, cook and experiment, and of course eat a lot.

Music, Movies, and Books

All music styles are cool, depending on the occasion, but specially I enjoy rock and reaggae.

Kiko is more into electronic music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- For more than 2 years I backpacked South America, this experience changed my life and world vision and filled me with pretty cool stories.

- I also lived in a Van (which I named Hikuri) for 1 year in New Zealand, enjoying the freedom of living in your own vehicle. For sure one of the best experiences in my life!

- Explored all Pakistan on a motorcycle. Rough, but by far one of the most amazing adventures of my travels.

- Survived to pandemic in a tiny island in Philippines, living in my tent for a couple of months, fishing and eating wild local plants.

- Spent 1.5 years backpacking in Africa, this includes listening from my tent to lions roaring, watching elephants eating by a tree next to me and travel 300km in more than 10hrs (patience goes to the limit in this continent haha).

Teach, Learn, Share

We could teach English and Spanish, and share some Mexican food recipes as well. Kiko is a Chef, so expect creative cooking and yummy food.

I'd love to learn more languages, specially practice my Portuguese.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Since I love to cook, and Kiko is a chef, we can share get nice Mexican food, as well as cool stories from our lives, and of course, all the sympathy of this spicy chica mexicana and the craziness of the Traveling biker Chef.
