About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To heal myself, others, and the planet through love and laughter.

ABOUT ME

I'm curious, friendly, and wonderful--as in "full of wonder" about everything. My heart and mind are open. I am a teacher because I love to learn.

PHILOSOPHY

We are truly spiritual beings who have incarnated to have a physical experience--with all its terrible beauty, heart-opening pain, and fabulous laughter. Every living being is connected to the infinite and to each other. Love is the most important thing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had an incredible experience in May 2013 surfing with Ged Byrne in Calne, England. He not only gave me a place to stay, but he showed me around the magical places in Avebury and prepared me roasted parsnips, scones, and an exquisite cuppa tea.

In 2014, my son Aidan and I couchsurfed with two amazing gentlemen, Frederic (and his sister in Brest, France) and Vincent Carpentier (in Paris, France.) In spite of a wretched train strike which ruined my plans with my Eurail pass, these two men made our trip not only bearable but incredible. Frederic took great care of us and introduced me to a new life-long friend from Germany whom I really connected with. Vincent showed us the hidden treasures of Paris and fed us so well!

Interests

I have been raising a wonderful son as a single mom for the last 18 years.. Aidan is now smart, strong, and an Eagle Scout. I used to share three acres and a home with ten cats, two dogs, and several other Arkansas critters (racoons, opossums, deer). I had a huge vegetable and herb garden, a nice collection of rocks/minerals/crystals/fossils, and an extensive metaphysical library. In 2014, I gave up my home to move away from some terrible neighbors. My gardening is now confined to pots, and my cats live at my mother's house. I teach writing and literature at a community college, and I completed my Reiki Master certification in Glastonbury, England, with the final attunement given at Stonehenge. I now own Arkansas Reiki Institute, Inc. where I teach Reiki classes and give Reiki treatments. I will retire in May 2017 to pursue my Young Living essential oil business, teach Reiki, and give Reiki and Reconnective Healing treatments--and travel, of course.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite movies: Forrest Gump, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Braveheart, Dances with Wolves

Favorite music: Classic rock, 70s, Celtic, Classical, Native American flute and drum

Favorite books: Too many to list, but if I had to choose one, it would be Watership Down by Richard Adams

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I can't limit myself to just one amazing thing. I have climbed to the tops of Mayan pyramids at Uxmal and Chichen Itza in Mexico. I have felt the strange vibrations from a giant slab of rock at Machu Picchu, Peru, and ziplined above the rainforest canopy in Costa Rica. I have burrowed to the center of the ancient tomb at Newgrange, Ireland, and followed invisible fairies in Knockma Wood. I have cried over the majesty of the Rocky Mountains, gasped at the beauty of the Painted Desert at sunset, and snorkled in the reefs around Hawaii with incredible fish and a green turtle. I have gasped at the fjords of Norway and explored the underground city of Edinburgh. I have slept in a yurt on the Orkney Islands and slunk with grief through the concentration camp at Dachau. From the museums of Paris to the wilds of the western United States, I find myself continually amazed by the human imagination and the majesty of Mother Nature.
