To CONQUER THE WORLD
We are a lovely lesbian couple who kick ass and take names. We've gone our first (of many) world travel adventures, and right now we are working on the living-as-adults adventure that is a person's mid-twenties.
We are specifically: Margo, who is working as a substitute teacher in the Twin Cities area, wrangling children and forcing them to enjoy reading based on the pure intensity of her love for books. She likes improvisational cooking, chasing the cats around the apartment, and reading way too many books at a time.
Kate is a professional paperwork shuffler, but needless to say that's not what she wants to do in the long term. Mostly she's saving up all she can for the next adventure. Good news is, it's a low-stress job, which leaves her plenty of time & energy to read books on neuroscience, swim at the Y, write poetry, play old-school videogames (Super Nintendo what up!) and go for long walks while listening to music at an unreasonable volume (not when people are right next to her though, because she's not a dick).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We host, we are hosted, we meet up with people and show them around.
Kate and I had friends that were couchsurfers, so when we embarked on our grand world tour a year ago we decided to try it out as an alternative to hostels. BAM! Greatest life experience ever. Now that we're back in the US of A, we're hoping to host other travelers.
biking, making faces at small children, making arts, napping, staying up all night, wrangling kittens, herding penguins, reading ALL THE BOOKS, eating new types of food, being high up in the air, trying new recipes, swimming, being out in nature, running, videogames, lifting weights, writing poetry, music
Music, Movies, and Books
Kate: I love pretty much any book on the brain, or psychology in general. One of my favorite phrases to Margo is "I was reading this study and..." because I am a nerd like that, I guess. I also deeply enjoy Young Adult novels (as long as they're not about vampires), books of poetry, and dystopias/alternate realities. One of my favorite movies is Stranger Than Fiction; also, perhaps incongruously, Legally Blonde. As for music, I like a variety... admittedly terrible pop music, remixes of classical works, movie & game soundtracks, the occasional rap or emo or angry white boy (Linkin Park is a guilty pleasure).
Margo: I LOVE ALL THE BOOKS; I am a voracious reader. I love Sherman Alexie and Virginia Woolf with the same passion as I do terrible young adult fiction (but not Twilight because that was horrible.)
I like pretty movies. Things like Amelie or Pan's Labyrinth. I also have a really low tolerance for violence.
I will listen to just about anything, music-wise; I prefer oddball artists like Amanda Palmer, or adapted folk like Mumford and Sons, or terrible delicious ska like Streetlight Manifesto. My favorite band is Against Me!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Kate: Dancing in a gay bar till 5:00 AM with a circle of Turkish friends was one of my favorite travel moments. Also hot-air ballooning. Also swimming off the shore of Crete. I don't know, our traveling was one big blend of amazing times.
Margo: I was working security on a construction site and they left the door to the ladder of the crane (one of those big 5-story ones) unlocked, so I climbed up to the top and spent the evening confusing pedestrians by shining my flashlight down on them.
Teach, Learn, Share
Margo: I'm good at cooking, literary analysis, and basic french language skills.
Kate: I can play the piano reasonably well and make great desserts. I know some basic meditation stuff and how to lift heavy weights without hurting yourself. Also I am good at poetry and the art of writing concisely (when I want to).
What I Can Share with Hosts
We can cook you the best carrot soup you've ever had in your life, along with american biscuits, offer dazzling (literary) conversation, and explain which parts of you live in which parts of your brain.
