About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be a professor in Urban Development and travel travel travel, learn learn learn!!!

ABOUT ME

I have just moved back to the U.S. after three years abroad to start my PhD in Milwaukee. I've couchsurfed a number of times but have not (until now) had a place where I could host people. Hopefully I can make up for some couch karma soon!

As mentioned, I'm doing my PhD...Urban Studies...I am fascinated with cities and human behavior and hope to eventually become a university professor.

PHILOSOPHY

I have an overwhelming feeling of responsibility to be a really good and genuine person, all the time. It's kind of hard sometimes. But I try real hard.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have met many people in many places (and found places to live) through Couchsurfing. I would love to share everything I know about the places I've been and to continue to travel and meet great people.

I have been a student and moving regularly for the past 2 1/2 years, so I have not been able to host - yet! The second I have a stable place to live I will be working to return all the hospitality I have received through CS!!! :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Two nights in Budapest, a BBQ in Darmstadt, some time in Essen, a couple of nights in Marrakech, a night out in Zagreb, almost a week in Tampere, a trip to Paris, an apartment in Budapest, nice friends in London, iftar and the Smurfs in Istanbul, all have been great :)

Interests

I'm really into post-industrial and transitional cities...talking about them, looking at old industrial buildings, thinking about them, taking pictures of them. It's a weird interest, but I dig it.

I like trees. And eating. But not eating trees.

I also love Ramadan so so much. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies, etc: At this moment, my favorite movies and the like are Tampopo (Dandelion), High Fidelity, the Twin Peaks series (especially the first 2 or 3 episodes of season 2), The Big Lebowski, Amelie, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and The Thin Red Line. I like film festivals, especially animated shorts.

Music: I like a lot of music and I especially like when people give me new things I've never listened to. Sharing is caring.

Books: I like John Irving and just read a great book on Revolutionary Europe. Fiction can be fun. Non-fiction makes me a better person.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have seen so many amazing things, but I will say that the desert near Siwa, Egypt is like heaven.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a little bit about urban development. Je parle un peu de français. Ich verstehe ein bisschen Deutsche. Kankdr ntkllm chouwiya dyal larabiya maghribia .

I have some spotty knowledge about films and music, but I'm no expert, that's for sure.
