I'm Karina, a 29 years old highschool teacher who lives near Buenos Aires. I study Literature in the University of Buenos Aires (I'm getting my degree really soon).
I live with Nahuel, my boyfriend, and I wish I could travel a lot more.

Mi nombre es Karina, tengo 29 años y soy profesora de literatura en escuelas secundarias. Vivo cerca de la ciudad de Buenos Aires (aunque cerca para los estándares de Buenos Aires no es tan cerca). Estudio Letras en la Universidad de Buenos Aires (de la que espero recibirme muy pronto).
Vivo con Nahuel, mi novio, y me gustaría viajar mucho más.

I'm Nahuel, I've just turned 26 and as Karina I'm a teacher though not in high school but *to* high schools teachers about technology and innovation in the classroom. I also study Literature in UBA but not quite so near my degree as her.

Mi nombre es Nahuel, acabo de cumplir 26 y como Karina soy un profesor pero no de secundario sino que enseño a profesores sobre el uso de la tecnología en el aula. También estudio Letras en la UBA pero no estoy tan cerca de recibirme como ella.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We want to meet new people. This is really the main idea. Travelling is something we've always wanted, but sometimes it's so expensive that it becomes impossible. To be honest, that's another reason to be here.
But I also think that no one can help you get to know a city or any place more than the people who live there, they know the little, secret things and that's what we want to experience!

Queremos conocer gente nueva. Esta es la razón principal. Viajar es algo que siempre quisimos hacer, pero a veces resulta tan caro que es imposible hacerlo. Para ser honestos, esta es otra de las razones por las que estamos aquí.
Además, creemos que nadie puede ayudarte a conocer una ciudad más que la gente que vive allí. Ellos conocen las pequeñas cosas, las cosas secretas, ¡y esas son las cosas que queremos experimentar!

Interests

Reading and watching tv are probably my favorite things to do. Going to museums is also one of the things I really like, specially history museums (I dream of going to museums of medieval history in Europe!).
Going out to nice dinners where you can talk, or share a beer with friends are also some of my favorite things.

Leer y ver televisión son probablemente mis cosas favoritas. También me gusta ir a museos, especialmente de historia (¡sueño con ir a museos de historia medieval en Europa!).
Me gusta mucho ir a cenar porque podés charlar con los demás comensales, aunque otra de mis cosas favoritas es compartir una cerveza con amigos.

I also love reading and my fair share of movies and series. I have a passion for all things medieval and history in general. I have worked with computers for a while so I have an affinity with them. Though I have to agree with Karina, there is nothing like a fine drink and a laughs with some friends.

También me encanta leer y ver mi buena parte de películas y series. Me apasionan todas las cosas medievales y la historia en general. Llevo trabajando con computadoras desde hace un tiempo por lo que tengo afinidad con el tema. Aunque debo acordar con Karina en que no hay nada como un buen trago y unas risas con algunos amigos.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have the craziest taste in music since I pretty much listen to anything, however my favorite band is Queen and my favorite singers are Robbie Williams and Joaquin Sabina.
Even more so than movies I love tv shows. Some of my favorites include: Doctor Who, Friends, Hannibal, Pushing Daisies, Carnival, Game of Thrones. I watch anything with a Medieval setting.
I have a lot of favorite books, the works of Rabelais come to mind (this is what I wanna study if I ever do a PhD), medieval stories (Beowulf, Mio Cid, Roland, King Arthur...) and Renaissance writers like Dante, Cervantes and Boccaccio fill my heart with joy.

Tengo los gustos más locos en música dado que escucho prácticamente cualquier cosa, sin embargo mi banda favorita es Queen y mis cantantes preferidos son Robbie Williams y Joaquin Sabina.
Incluso más que las películas me gustan las series de telvisión. Algunas de mis favoritas incluyen: Doctor Who, Friends, Hannibal, Pushing Daisies, Carnival, Game of Thrones. Miro cualquier cosa que esté situado en la época medieval.
Tengo muchos libros favoritos, los trabajos de Rabelais me vienen a la mente (esto es lo que quiero estudiar si alguna vez hago un doctorado), las historias medievales (Beowulf, Mio Cid, Roland, el Rey Arturo..) y los escritores del Renacimiento como Dante, Cervantes y Boccaccio me llenan de emoción.

I love reading, mainly science fiction and fantasy, but also a lot of "regular" fiction, though my passion for mythology, world building and fairy tales cannot be denied. Love comics and videogames and will defend them as high art in any discussion. I also have an ecclectic taste in music and listen to some of the barroque classics as much as progressive or argentinian rock.

Amo leer, especialmente ciencia ficción y fantasy, pero también mucha de la ficción "común", aunque no puedo negar mi pasión por la mitología, la creación de mundos y los cuentos de hadas. Amo los comics y los videojuegos y los defenderé como arte en cualquier discusión. También tengo un gusto algo ecléctico en música y voy desde los clásicos barrocos hasta lo progresivo o el rock de mi país.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been to the Iguazú Falls and I've gotten in an helicopter that takes you on the most amazing ride over the falls!

Fui a las Cataratas del Iguazú y me subí a un helicóptero que te lleva en el viaje más hermoso sobre las cataratas!

There is one time I conquered my fear of heights and rode a camel. Another one behind us started bitting the one I rode and I thought mine was going restless and was about to began running wild. Nothing happend but man, those things can bite.

Hubo una vez en que vencí mi vértigo y anduve en camello. Uno de atrás empezó a morder al camello sobre el cual estaba montado y pensé que se estaba poniendo nervioso e iba a salir corriendo. Por suerte no pasó nada, pero sí que muerden esos animales.

I can talk a looot about literature, Argentinian literature is amazing and there's so much to be read. Since I also work as a Language teacher I can help anyone who wants to learn a bit more.
