About Me

Hi!
My name is Karla Arán Roque. I was raised in Puerto Rico and have visited many countries. I am currently studying for my PhD in Clinical Psychology at Carlos Albizu University in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. I was part of the soccer team at an undergraduate level at The University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

What I enjoy most about visiting other countries is getting to know locals and their culture. For this reason, I would like to explore the world though a local's perspective. For me, the beauty of traveling lies in making connections with other cultures through human interactions with the people that live there. That's why I joined the couchsurfing community.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy almost any type of music, except hard metal.

I don't have any favorite movies, but I do love drama, thrillers, suspense, and comedies.

Lately I am reading a lot of books related to research: How emotions are made by Lisa Feldman y my favorite.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to Colombia to augment awareness about sexuality and teen pregnancy.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy the most sharing different takes on life, of what connects us to each other. I like understanding what energizes and makes life meaningful for others, and be energized in some way too about what others consider important about life.

As a futura psychologist, I am particularly interested in reflecting on the function of society, social media, interpersonal connections and things like that. Traveling broadens my perspective of what works and what does not. It challenges many notions that I am accustomed to while at the same time cultivating my empathy for diversity and novelty!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share what it feels like to live in an island that has amazing hidden places waiting to be discovered and convince you to come visit us. I'll be a glimpse of how my people are, welcoming, nice, cordial, and in good mood.
