About Me
Hello, I'm Karla! From Oaxaca, Mexico.
You can also find me as a very active Member on different Female Travelers Facebook groups: Host a Sister; Solo Female Traveler, Girls Love Travel; Girl Gone International.
** Couchsurfing is not a dating app, hence I'm not interested in flirting or dates here ;) **

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Timba is probably my favorite genre right now (have you heard of it?). Of course, I like salsa, bachata, and reggaeton; and I enjoy listening to anything with African influence.
I love Dua Lipa, Jon Batiste, St. Paul and the broken bones; and music from the 70s-80s: Earth Wind and Fire, Rod Stewart, Bon Jovi.
Books (or authors): When God was a woman; Gabriel García Márquez; Søren Kierkegaard; T. S. Elliot; Donna Haraway; Pablo Neruda.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spending nine years organizing an international film festival. I got to connect with so many cultures and made amazing friends from different countries.
Let’s say that the film festival (and the bunch of festivals I got to attend representing mine) was my Couchsurfing, as it was a really fun way to connecting with people from many regions of the world. Also, I have been hosted and/or I've met up with so many of my festival attendees in different geographies 🌎
What I Can Share with Hosts
Lots of conversation as I can be extremely talkative from time to time. But sometimes I just prefer to listen to other people :)
I also enjoy photography, so if you’d like, I can take some nice photos of you or of any project you may have.
I am very very passionate about salsa dancing. I can teach you basic or intermediate salsa steps (including mambo, chachachá, boogaloo, pachanga). Or just basic body movement techniques that you can use and adapt to a vast range of dances/rhythms such as contemporary dance, heels, reggaeton, rock, jazz.
One of my favorite things about salsa is how it merges with Cuban and Afro-Cuban rhythms, so I can also share with you a bit about Timba, Rumba and some Orishas.
