ABOUT ME

I like involving myself in life, and contemplating it....sometimes at the same time, and often by turns. I like biking, painting, reading, rock climbing, playing guitar, listening to music, going to concerts, making friends, being friends, discovering things, being active, dancing by myself, learning 'the rules' to how things work, breaking 'the rules' when necessary (but knowledgeably)...but also doing things that make me feel free and alive and real. I like feeling like I understand something well enough to help someone else with it. I like feeling like part of something that feels important and/or worthwhile.

PHILOSOPHY

I read a quote once saying 'most people listen with the intent to reply, not to understand' (or something)...well I want to understand. I want to feel really in touch. Myself, others, situations, emotions, philosophies, etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've tried actual couchsurfing once, which I thought was a resounding success, and would definitely do it again! Usually it just gives me ideas for activites to do, and cool people to meet/do it with!

Intereses

I usually enjoy anything artistic, and involving fun and sweet people I like. I like running, reading, camping, guitar, biking, and horseback riding, among other things, and don't say no to occasional dancing or concert going.

Música, películas y libros

I like 'of Montreal' (especially 'wraith Pinned to the Mist' by them...you should listen to it, Best song EVER!), Craig Cardiff, Leonard Cohen, Fleet Foxes, Tracy Chapman, James Taylor, lots of standard good artists. it depends on my mood, sometimes even top forty if I'm up for dancing. Or Raffi...haha

I love movies... Specifically, Fried Green tomatoes, Sense and Sensibility, and Billy Elliot. Among others. New releases: cloud atlas...better than the book! Seriously!

Hm speaking of books!! I've been in such a reading mood lately I've been racing through quite a few. 'The Red Tent' by Diana Gabaldon is one of my favourites. Bringing feminism to the biblical era.

Algo increíble que he hecho

One time, I stayed in this tiny mountain village in Italy for a night, with the organization I was working for. It had a legendary 'fountain of youth,' and was said to be haunted (which was completely believable). I stayed up with this lovely person, under the stars, because I was too scared to go back to my room alone, which was this medieval hovel in the the attic of this ancient crumbling stone structure. As the sun rose, we heard these clear church bells ringing to mark the opening of the village gates, and chase away any remaining specters. I left the day after, but felt forever marked by that experience, it was so magical and surreal, and I'd survived it.
