I am Kartika, from India. I got a job and came to Japan last year. Coming from a country where I dealt with at least 3 different cultures on a daily basis to a homogenous culture, I am always looking forward to new stories and experiences. New stories, new perspective, new ideas is what excites me. I love sketching and papercutting and exploring or engaging with art.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Where else can I find amazing travelers who can share their ideas and stories. I can read books and know a place and some character but what if I can actually meet a character in real. I believe everyone has a unique and different story to tell. Even if it’s a normal story it will always have Rashomon effect to it. ;)

Interests

I like art and learning about cultures. Reading and listening to people. Reading books too. Currently I am hooked to the podcast “Art and ideas” by BBC.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am into Alternative rock, and like exploring folk music. I like black humor and prefer documentaries over commercial movies. Books, currently reading “How Proust can change your life” by Alain De Botton.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went for a solo trip to Goa, India. And wall painted the hostel I was living at. Sketched at the beach. Explored the street graffiti art. Well there are other solo trips which were exciting, but this one was emotionally and physically soothing. I will tell you more when we meet.;)

Teach, Learn, Share

I am into learning languages and understanding people. I can teach you some and learn some from yours. I love listening to people with ideas and travelers and readers have the best and most random ideas I believe.
