ABOUT ME

My name is Kasia, I'm 26 and I come from Poland. I came to the US 1.5 years ago and since then I've been 'working' as an au pair. Please don't give me a face when I say I'm a lawyer in my country and I went abroad to take care of kids... I couldn't imagine spending the best time my life in an office until I get old and covered in wrinkles. I love it that my 'work uniform' are comfy sweatshirts and yoga pants, I have time during the day to work out and I forgot what's it like to be stressed out. Sounds pretty good to me.

I'm social but at the same time I'm a little bit of a loner. I enjoy solitude that's why I like to travel by myself. But come on, too much solitude it not good as well. I like to be around good people. I have a smalll circle of close friends although I tremendously enjoy meeting new people and making new friends. After my last trip to San Diego I became friends with my CS host. Wonderful feeling.

PHILOSOPHY
Minimalism. Less is more.

Freedom is more important than safety. Ships are safe in harbour, but staying in harbour is not ships' role.

No risk - no fun. Who doesn't take a risk, doesn't drink champagne.

Be good for people and they will be good for you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is great because it gives you a chance to connect with local community when traveling. I like to travel by myself to have freedom to do whatever I want and meet new people. Most girls are afraid of hanging out with strangers what makes me roll my eyes. The most exciting part of traveling isn't sightseeing, partying or lying down on the beach. It's making friends!

Interests

I spend my free time mainly hanging out with friends, going to the movies, doing yoga, working out, reading, exploring NYC and working on improving my English. Other than that I'm a huge fan of hiking, hitch-hiking and Broadway shows. Tequila shots is my thing... ;)

Movies:
drama, historic, costume, old Polish comedies, in general I like moving movies (I don't want to say sad movies)

The Reader, The Pianist, The Great Gatsby, Good Will Hunting, Schindler's List, The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas (in general movies about II World War), How to be Single

Recently a huuuge fan of La la land, I really loved this movie. I usually don't get excited about the Oscars at all, but this year I was watching the gala super antsy... I just wanted Emma Stone to win the Oscar for the best actress so much ;)

Books:
classical XIX century literature like Gone with the Wind or Anna Karenina, books about Africa like The White Masai or Out of Africa, travel relation, non fiction, books about II World War

And many many others... I'm a bookworm. The most relaxing activity ever for me is lying down on my bed under a fuzzy blanket and reading. And btw reading is sexy ;)
