About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to help build community

ABOUT ME

I'm a grad student at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. I study Latin American literature (mostly), teach Spanish, and spend most of my free time dancing tango. Sometimes I also manage to eat and sleep.

PHILOSOPHY

People are basically good; why drive when you could walk? and always have a book on you in case you get bored and cookies in the cabinet in case of an emergency.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Thus far I've primarily been involved in couchsurfing by hosting travelers. I hosted several times in Buenos Aires, and I'm hoping to be able to do so in Atlanta as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I joined Couchsurfing in September of 2008 upon moving to Buenos Aires and realizing that's what all the cool kids do there. I hosted travelers from all over the world in my small, underfurnished apartment, and it was great! Now I'm living in Atlanta, where I'm hoping to host as well.

Interests

contemporary Latin American literature (and Russian, although I have to read it in translation!), Argentine film, food, politics (U.S. and Argentine), people, writing, second language acquisition pedagogy, playing the guitar

Music, Movies, and Books

What I've been reading/writing about lately: The Lacuna by Barbara Kingsolver, How the García Girls Lost Their Accents, The God of Small Things.

What I'm watching: 30 Rock, The Guild, Angel (yes, I am stuck in the 90s), Up All Night

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

the cliffs of Ronda, the Alhambra in Granada, summertime in Seattle, the beaches in the panhandle of Florida (no drilling, please!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English and Spanish grammar. I would love to practice Spanish, learn guitar, and learn any kind of dance. I am also freakishly good at plucking eyebrows (so my sisters tell me, and they're very discriminating).

Countries I’ve Visited

Italy, Spain, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Argentina, United States
