Hey there. My name is Kate and I am currently residing in Serralunga d'Alba of the Cuneo as an au pair for a family who lives here. I've been here almost 3 months, and by the end of it I plan to travel for a month before I head home to Colorado to be in time for Christmas. I love to read/write and have gotten myself into the habit of enjoying those outlets more while being here. I also love to dance and do photography (model) and really enjoy sight seeing and being in an environment that respects the earth.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would love to be able to stay some nights for free as I am still new to traveling and am not too savvy when it comes to "smart traveling" and money.

Music, Movies, and Books

Coldplay is one of my all time favorite bands and I have a tattoo of one of their song lyrics. I really like melancholic music that usually follows "epic" movies, indie rock, some hip hop/rap. Harry Potter is one of my all time favorites for both books/movies, but ultimately there are too many to name for both.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Joined burlesque, which is a very old but still very "unaccepted" type of dance that is meant to empower ladies and promote self love and love for each other. I have also traveled here to Italy alone and have done almost everything alone with the exception of involvement with my host family for certain things.

Teach, Learn, Share

I help with teaching English to my kiddos in my host family and I've found that it's really enjoyable when people are "into" learning it. English is a weird, nonsensical language at times so it's interesting to teach it. I have tried learning Italian while being here and understand better than I speak it. Share...I like to share my experiences and stories with people and I like to hear others stories, too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Laughter, because I try to be funny for people and make them smile, even if sometimes I don't feel like smiling. For the most part since I do not know Europe, I am happy to follow the lead of my host if they want to go to a certain bar or restaurant or see some sights and would probably not have many queries with their choice of activity.
