À propos de moi

Three of my greatest joys are:

1. Dancing your face off until you lose yourself to the rhythm and the beat of the music
2. Exploring and keeping an open mind (and heart) to new people, places, and spaces
3. Being close to the water

The above being said, I think we need to push ourselves and challenge the way we walk through this life. In a meditation class I was recently a part of, the teacher said ‘the world likes to categorize us based on what we do, where we go, and who we know’. That idea struck a cord because I realized I’ve conceptualized much of my existence based on those principles.

I suppose she was suggesting meditation be one of the activities that helps progress us past that structure. I think travel is one as well though. It gives us an opportunity to challenge our thinking, break the routine, and get to learn the beauties and challenges of other ways of living/thinking/being.

So carpe diem and get out there!

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

To meet more people around the globe and challenge the way I think about things. Also to get the best recommendations for where to go/what to see/and have an insiders perspective on the places I’d like to venture to

Centres d'intérêt

I can’t think of one thing that isn’t interesting to me. But just for the sake of the question, here are a few to chew on:

Reading, Hiking, talking to random strangers, eating delicious food (I used to have anaphylactic allergies so it’s a true pleasure getting to try the many cuisines that exist) painting, organizing, laughing, traveling (preferably in a way that is sustainable and mindful of the cultures I’m learning from), making almost anything - DIY is the way!

Plus a bunch more I’m probably not thinking of at the moment. I was serious that I’ll pretty much try anything.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Books:
So many to list it feels daunting. Reading is the greatest way to spend time and a book is a forever friend. I’m currently reading Michael Pollan’s ‘How to Change Your Mind’ and I love his scientific but also creative approach to psychedelics and the opportunity for us to expand our consciousness.

Let me try with music:
I grew up with my dad playing Jazz for me on Saturday mornings so that will always have a strong place in my heart. Love me some big band. Into electronic and house beats and the parties are usually fun. Can always get down to some soundtrack music - Circle of Life anyone?! And more than what I like today I’m always open to learning of new genres/artists

Movies:
Once upon a time I was a die hard for any Hollywood blockbuster but I’d like to think Ive developed my ‘movie palette’ since that time. I’m now into almost any type of documentary and really appreciate smaller, Art house directors who don’t get as much screen time as the larger shops. Seeing the big movie houses like Disney and Netflix taking up the lion share of funding for projects breaks my heart just a little. Fantastic film called Ema is one I would recommend and it’s filmed in my favourite place in the world: Valparaiso, Chile.
