ABOUT ME

energetic, expressive, ridiculous, loving, positive. I am a performance artist, currently residing in Philadelphia. Feel free to check out www.kateblackregan.com for my artist statement and work. I am interested in the healing arts and performing arts, and work to support healing within communities.

I love people and animals, good conversation (with both :) and am quite adaptable. I also love writing, traveling, learning, - I sing in a jazz-infused band in Philly and my own solo work playing songs on ukulele and guitar. I am a resident performer/collaborator with an oneiric theater company. I work doing hotline and intake counseling at Philadelphia's domestic violence shelter. My work is rooted in healing and transformation through creative expression. I also love to clown :)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For the past four years in Philly I have lived in communal houses - a very special one for 3 years called "Osage" aka the Mama Hostel. We hosted people for years and our house provided a creative space for many within the art/activist community and beyond. I now live in Cedarville in West Philly, where I live with an amazing hammered dulcimer player, a yoga therapist, a social worker/organizer and a philosophy student. It's a really beautiful space.

For years, friends and friends of friends and drifters and travelers and political gatherers and veterans and those seeking a safe warm soulful place to stay were invited into our living room. Many a folk have surfed through and I'm happy to live alongside other eclectic eccentric interesting people. Love getting to know new people, new places...!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm looking to create new experiences with couchsurfing. Our theater company went on tour to the New Orleans fringe in Nov. 2013 (with shows in Brooklyn, Baltimore, Atlanta, Asheville) and we couchsurfed along the way - it was incredible! We met such amazing people, I was so grateful for this community!

We have hosted many interesting, eclectic people at our communal house in Philly. I am just getting into using my couchsurfing account to travel, and appreciate you reading this! :)

Written and performed my own one-woman piece. Climbedw aterfalls. Written a book of poetry. Climbed the cliffs of southern Utah. Living is amazing!
