About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore this life creatively and boldly

ABOUT ME

I am very open-minded, friendly, and silly. I love history, art, music, and film. I tend to seek out cultural richness, so my current home of New Orleans is heaven on earth. I'm a sucker for new experiences, and tend to turn down responsibility in favor of fun. I am fiercely protective of my friends, hometown, and cooking meat on an open fire.

Cooking while dancing to some funky music is the straightest path to happiness for me. I love learning even a few words in any language and can't stand anyone who doesn't like to try new food. I laugh a lot and can usually find something humorous in all situations. If there's a boat around, I'd like to be on it.

I've been studying art and history in school, work, and my free time for almost ten years, and don't plan to stop any time soon. I can spend all day going to museums and never get tired of it. I've spent the last 3 years immersing myself in the comedy scene in New Orleans, and I love performing improv and writing and performing sketch comedy.

Here's a sketch video I made: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaZnPdtE5qU

At this point in my life, things are not so much about work, both by choice and not. I would love to use my skills and expertise to work in an educational department in an art museum one day, but while I labor towards that goal, I spend a lot of time pursuing my other interests and working odd jobs. This leads me to both laughter and despair on a daily basis. They are not mutually exclusive.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Unfortunately I've surfed more than hosted, but I want to change that once I move into a more suitable place. I have friends who host, so I've had a wonderful time with them and their couchsurfers in town.

I've couchsurfed in the US, Colombia, and Italy, and had a great experience every time.

Interests

Art of many time periods, but primarily ancient mesoamerican and south american artifacts and art since the mid 19th century with a focus on the history and the development of photography. Linguistics, especially Latin. Bones. American football (the steelers). Museums. Exploring the natural landscape in both active and leisurely ways. I love spectacles of all kinds- shows, plays, sporting events, the zoo, aquariums (aquaria), juggling festivals.
