About Me

At 26 and a half years old, I am finishing up my Master's in Global Studies at the University of Vienna. I like to spend winter's in cold places and summers in hot places. So if you come visit me in January I'll be in Vienna, but in June you can find me in Spain!

I grew up in the US, but left just after my college graduation. That summer, I found myself in the Basque Country, where I ended up living for two years, working as an English teacher. Afterwards, I moved to Leipzig, Germany to try my hand at a little Deutsch (unfortunately, I didn't pick it up as quickly as I would have hoped)--and then went down south to Vienna to finish up my studies and to take advantage of the city's wonderful location--and travel to Slovenia, Italy Hungary, Czech Republic, etc.

Now I find myself at a crossroads, where traveling & job searching are coming to a head...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing because after moving around so often, I know how it feels to need a place to stay and a friendly face to make you feel comfortable in a new surrounding.

Its more interesting to me to see local treasures and hidden places than following the route of the latest guidebook. Also, a home-cooked meal never hurt anyone and I also love to share recipes that I have gathered over my travels!

Whether it is sharing laughs, a beer, stories or a couch...this community has never done me wrong and I want to keep up the good vibes by couchsurfing my way around the world

Interests

As a Global Studies student (both in Undergrad & Masters) I am interested in how different regions of the world connect with one another -- whether it be politically, economically, culturally, virtually, whatever... And Couchsurfing is just another way to study the connections between people and places, a way to establish relationships that cross borders and space.

I also like to eat/drink outside on a sunny day :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently listening to: Leon Bridges & Radiohead's "A Moon Shaped Pool"

Next movie to watch: Event Horizon (although recommended rather sheepishly...)

Currently Reading: "The Savage Detectives" By Roberto Bolaño

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ate bull testicles with locals in Kropa, Slovenia... :/
(Is that amazing?)

Teach, Learn, Share

We all have something to teach and to learn from one another. Depending on the situation we all take away something different from the experience, as well as contribute something unique.

I love to share a cold beer or a nice glass of red wine.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A relaxed atmosphere and a story or two.
Also, some southern US cooking if you are in the mood for some comfort food!

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, Turks and Caicos Islands, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
