About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm a musician, music teacher, researcher, and occasional home chef.

PHILOSOPHY

People who make music together cannot be enemies, at least while the music lasts. - Paul Hindemith

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never officially couch-surfed before. However, I do love to find friends of friends with whom I can stay whenever I travel and get a taste of the real, local life and culture.

Interests

Music - performing, listening, composing - is a transcendent experience for me. I spend a lot of time practicing and listening.
I am fascinated by languages and cultures and enjoy the exploration of those.
Nature is where I regain my focus and relax.
Conversations with others are where I stretch my mind and think new thoughts.
I read a lot, both fiction and nonfiction, and spend as much time as I can learning.

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many to list, but I will give recommendations in person. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kayaking the Nile in Uganda was the most thrilling thing I've experienced.
Performing Handel's Messiah under Maestro John Nelson changed me as a musician.
Floating in the south China sea watching the sun set stands out as one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever had.

Teach, Learn, Share

I will share music with you without hesitation. Want to learn some piano? Discover some new musicians to listen to? Understand the history of the banjo? Just ask.
I knit and would be happy to get you started if you're keen to learn.
I also make some pretty delicious vegan chili.
